CONTAKT ----------------------- Phase 1 - Introduction/FAQ (INTRO) ----------------------- Welcome to the Guide for .hack//G.U. Volume 3 - Redemption Frequently Asked Questions: Q: WHY DOES MY GAME FREEZE AT A CERTAIN CUTSCENE? A: This is a problem with the disc. Simply skip the cutscene and view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBZAGO-K_3A You can also try resetting your PS2, as some people claim this has worked. Q: What is the Terminal Disc? A: The Terminal Disc is a DVD that explains the previous four .hack games, and brings people up to speed on .hack. As you play along the three .hack//G.U. games, more videos become unlocked, and you can watch more and more. Unfortunately, the Terminal Disc was only included in the Pre-Order Special Edition of .hack//G.U. Volume 1. You might be able to find it on E-Bay. Q: Where can I get the Haseo Action Figure? A: The Haseo action figure was also a Pre-Order Special Edition only exclusive. Sorry. Don't worry, you're not missing out on much. Q: What's the max level I can get? A: 150. Q: Is there any way I can help? A: Sure! Come join the dothackers forums and you can post information you have that we might not. This is a community effort, after all, and everyone is invited to help! =D Q: How do I unlock Tabby? A: See the Forest of Pain section. (Un)Lucky Animals (LUCKI) ------------------------ Most fields and dungeons contain at one unlucky or lucky animal. You can determine which animal it is based on the fact that lucky animals have a musical note above their heads. In this list, the animals are divided into 2 sections, the fields and dungeons. Within each section, there is a list of no.(1 to 0) at the top and the side. The number on top is the value of the last digit of your average party's level. --Meaning if i have a party of lvls 55, 56, 57, my average party lvl is 56.-- Hence the value is 6. If there is any decimals when calculating the values, it's rounded down. The number on the left is the last digit of the area's level. Meaning if i enter an area of lvl 55, the value is 5. The animal that appears will be chosen by the intersection of the values. For instance, my average party level is 56, so the top value is 6. The area I enter is a field level 55, so the side value is 5. Comparing it with the table, I will get Leviathan in the field. I have used initals for the animals, so here's a legend for it. F.W: Fate Worm G.B: Gold Bird Sleip.: Sleipnir T-T.F: Two-tailed Fox Gane.: Ganesha Levi: Leviathan H.W: High Wolf M.C: Malice Cat Tsutsu.: Tsutsuga M.R: Moon Rabbit Oury.: Ouryu Totet.: Totetsu Chime.: Chimera Teng.: Tengu D.G: Dark Goat Q.L: Qi Lin Note: Because of GameFaqs 80 character limit, I need to remove the charts. The charts for the lucky animals are available here: http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h157/ZeroTheBurninator/walkthrough/lucki.png If you need to access this guide offline, please print or save that picture. --------------+----------------------------------------+------------ Animal Name |Description |Location --------------+----------------------------------------+------------ Gold Bird |Objects turn into treasure boxes Moon Rabbit |All members recieve 600 EXP Leviathan |Recieve 7 items Sleipnir |Sleipnir will help you in next 7 battles Tsutsuga |Saves you from Game Over 3 Times Ganesha |Max HP/SP increased for next 7 battles High Wolf |Gives you an item set Fate Worm |Gives you 50000 GP Totetsu |Objects turn into treasure boxes Kudan |Gives you 450 EXP Tengu |Recieve 6 items Chimera |Chimera will help you in next 6 battles Qi Lin |Saves you from Game Over 2 Times Tohkoh |Max HP/SP increased for next 6 battles Baku |Gives you an item set Ouryu |Gives you 16000 GP Nue |Summons King Chim Chim Two-tailed Fox |Takes 5% of money away from you Malice Cat |Max HP/SP will be half for next battle Dark Goat |Max HP/SP will be half for next battle Silver Kudan |Gives you a prophecy (Quest only) You can get your rewards for collecting them by visiting Dr. Pao in the Alchemy District. ------------------------ Phase 4 - Weapons/Armor Guide (ARMOUR) NOTE: An item name surrounded by brackets [] means that it cannot be bought/gained without an accessory item. NOTE2: Sometimes the Guilds don't have the armors and items you might want. Avatar Battles (AVATR) ------------------------ Controls ------------ Attack - X or O(Japanese Version) Dash - O or X(Japanese Version) Shot - [] (Square) A quick note about Skeith ------------------------- In the first few battles Skeith will have his form from the first game, meaning a basic 3 hit combo when you attack. After 1-2 battles, Skeith will have a form change, giving him new abilities (Like 3 hit combos + 1 extra hit and a wider shot.) Attack Pattern -------------- Basically, you just shoot like crazy at your opponent until he gets paralyzed. When he does, just dash towards and hit him with your scythe; making sure to dodge his attacks (All Avatar attacks are listed below) After you've chopped away at his HP enough, you'll be able to data drain. Basically, just hold O all the time to charge, and let go to shoot it. (And make sure you hit, ok?) ----------------------- Phase 7 - Ryu Books (RYUH) ----------------------- Ryu Book I - Battle ------------------- Battle Win --- 1 point Sneak Attack --- 3 Points per Success Rengeki --- 2 Points per Success Awakening --- 3 Points per use Ryu Book II - Party ------------------- Trade --- 18 points per trade Party group --- 5 points each time you build a team Present --- 10 points per present Present cost --- 1 per 100G Ryu Book III - Box ------------------- Open beast god box --- 30 points each time Open normal chest ---3 points per time Open trap box --- 20 points per time Small boxes\those strange things you kick --- 2 points per time Ryu Book IV - Item ------------------- Weapon - 12 points per type Armor - 18 points per type Accessory - 18 points per type Item - 6 points per item type Ryu Book V - Exploring ------------------- Play Time --- 5 points per 30 minutes Field Tranfer --- 35 points per entry Shrine Transfer --- 35 points per entry Cavern Transfer --- 35 points per entry Ryu Book VI - Arena ------------------- Arena battle - 7 points each register CounterHit - 7 points per success WP gain - 1 per 1 wp Ryu Book VII - Monster ------------------- Ghost Type --- 15 points per type Demon Type --- 35 points per type Sea Beast --- 60 points per type Natural Type --- 25 points per type Bird Type --- 30 points per type Plant Type --- 40 points per type Devil Beast --- 20 points per type Machine Type --- 35 points per type Dragon Type --- 35 points per type Shelled Type --- 35 points per type ??? When you log into the game, and then log out, you will get a reply with keywords. Use those keywords, and you will have an easy fight event. Again, go to the forum. Ask again, log into the game, then log out. Get the keywords from the forum and go there. NOTE: This will NOT unlock the forest of pain, but allows it to be unlocked. Then, after you beat the game, you will get a special E-Mail from CC Corp about the Forest of Pain. You'll also recieve a second E-Mail from Tabby. (She says she entered the Forest of Pain.) How should I prepare? ---------------------- It's recommended to be at least level 135. Bring a lot of SP healing items, or get Keyaki (Zelkova) into your party. (He has a lot of healing items :D ) Don't even bother killing the monsters inside the level, they waste time and resources. Your target is the 5 level bosses, which have increased defense. You may be asking "How do I kill a monster with 4K+ HP AND increased defense?" Beast Awakening, of course ;) In the forest, each level is 1-4 or 6-9 levels (For example, 11-14 and 26-29) You get some missions that will give you items when you complete them. Please note that the missions are completely optional. When you get to level 30, you will fight Cernnous again. When you get to level 50, you get Tabby into your party. After this event, if you quit the Forest of Pain at any time, you WILL be returned to level 50. Be wary of this. (On a side note: In the level 51-54 mission, if you complete the second mission, you will get the DG-Y gun for haseo) When you get to level 70, you fight The One Sin. When you get to level 100, you fight a mutant of The One Sin and Cernnous. After the fight, you will get Haseo's most prized weapon, and the best looking one too, the DG-Z. Bonus for clearing the Forest of Pain ----------------------------------- After the event with Ovan and Harald , you will have the bonus movie with Haseo and Shino talking in Mac Anu. Forest of Pain Missions ------------------------ 1) Do a combo with x hits. 2) Use a Skill Trigger x times. 3) Destroy x objects (mushrooms, jars, etc) 4) Open x trap boxes. 5) Start the battle with a preemptive-strike x times 6) No idea 7) Use Beast Awakening x times. ----------------------- Phase 9 - Natsume (NATSO) ----------------------- Natsume is one of the returning charcters from the first four games. Even though her role isn't a story line one, she is a party-able character. To get Natsume ---------------- Kill all 8 Blacklisted PKs. Go to the main BBS, and check the new post. Now, go to a random field, and go into a battle area. There's a chance that you will meet natsume. If you do, defeat her. Log out and enter the forum. Read the new post, then go to the sigma server. Go to the dead end there, and you will trigger an event with Piros and Natsume. After this, you will get Natsume's member address. ----------------------- Phase 10 - Keyword Guide (KIWORD) ----------------------- --PLEASE NOTE-- This is a translation of the Japanese keywords, and might vary in the English version of Volume 3. --------- 1st Word --------- Widely Serene Kenchi Takatomo Discerning Misting Trance Returning Escaping Extreme Traveling Incognito Drifting Photoradiation Meeting Show Start Running Trench Secret Entwining Sword Tempering Warrior Inviting Clamoring Indicating Boasting Amagoiyama Unsophisticated Eternity Brushing scabbard Stretching Brilliant Actor End ---------- 2nd Word ---------- Ocean Betrayal Disturbance Gifted Man Moonflower Offense Present world Disappointment Rivalry Lakeshore Incoherent Nonresistance Intimacy Spirit world Swift attack Sterile Keen Funeral hall's Shuddering Steel Milky Way's Great evil Moonlight’s Pretty Wild Beasts Empress Fool's Magician Youngest brother Blue silver Bull's-eye Battle ---------- 3rd Word ---------- Glider Longing Water wheel Prediction Glory Free Suppression Emotion Previous Existence Machine Diviner Fairy Mascot Substance Motorcycle Man Secret Base Goblin Mysterious Ceremony Honorable Oracle Demon Fist Crime World Antares Bank Martial Story Longan Grass Himeko Fish Village Drizzle Evening Cool Wind Festival Society Finch Kyouka Child T'ang-Dynasty Taikoubou Utopia Midnight Sun Crimson Full Moon Set Terms Umbrella Crow Yakiniku Teishoku End Of Dreams ----------------------- Phase 11 - Mecha Grunty Quest (MEKA) ----------------------- Unlike Volumes 1 and 2, you only need to pump chim spheres 30 times over. However, after you finish the 30 times, a new quest will be available Its a level 132 area, you need a party of 3, and the mission is to rescue Mecha Grunty. The reward for this quest is a alchemy item for weapons. The effect of this alchemy item is 100% critical. ----------------------- Phase 12 - Lost Weapons (LOSTW) ----------------------- You can upgrade your Lost Weapons via Virus Cores. To get Virus Cores, you need to use the new Data Drain/Avatar Awakening. After you have enough virus cores, you go to the Lost Ground where you found the Lost Weapons in Volume 2, and you begin to upgrade them with virus cores (There's a total of 4 levels.) To unlock their highest level and their new look, you must face the boss of the Lost Weapon. It's mostly the same boss from Volume 2, just over powered. The level 5 lost weapon will have a new, better look, and a level cap of 135. ----------------------- Phase 13 - Virus Core Exchange List (VIRUZ) ----------------------- Virus Core Exchange Once you have unlocked all Lost Weapons to level 5, you will receive an email from Zelkova, after you have relocated to Net Slum. It tells you that you can now use the virus cores to exchange for these stat-boosting items. Find Raven's Guild Grunty along the path to the Bridge.
