Disgaea: Hour of Darkness Make sure you hit REFRESH each time you check this faq, if you don't you may be reading an older version of it that is stored in your computer. Version 1.24 Author: The Crimson Phantom Aka: Jason L'Heureux Hybrid Guide: I'm calling it this because it covers a hybrid of problems which are plaguing players of this game. Due to HIGH volume of forum questions, I have decided to consolidate the answers into this FAQ. If I used something from someone else I'll credit them, but so far everything is from my own personal experience playing the game and things I have discovered and proven myself. Version 1.00 Created September 2, 2003. Version 1.01 Added Transmigration things a few tweaks. Version 1.02 Added Ranks, more monsters/classes. Version 1.10 Changed the thing to the 79 character limit, one can only hope that it will be accepted now. Version 1.11 Added more monsters and classes, stuff and things. Version 1.12 Added the last human class, new tricks. Version 1.13 Added more monster classes, some rules to tricks, Specialists stuff, removed tabs from the transmigration list (sorry looked like they were gone when I checked on mine... I forgot I used a few of them ugh). Version 1.14 Changed some Transmigration stuff, added more other stuff. Bugs. Added minimum promotion levels. Version 1.15 Added more monsters. Due to more forum questions added stuff on weapon/magic skill stuff. Version 1.16 Added almost all the monsters and monster abilities. Completed the Class spells and Weapon skills with their levels, hero spells/levels are done. Added stuff on Geo affects. Added max levels for promotion. Version 1.17 Added a few more monsers, more geo stuff. Slight typo on Etna's Prinny raid :( 5 not 6. Fixed other stuff that I added while drunk sigh how something can make perfect sense one day and then none the next I will never know. Thanks to the Young and Mighty Pang for some of the monster stuff... Version 1.18 Forgot to change one of the geo things. Found out new stuff with tranmigration. Other sites asked permission to use it so sure. Version 1.19 Added another monster. Added some other stuff. Official monster capture formula provided by Disgaea: The Official Strategy Guide's Official Web Site: http://www.doublejumpbooks.com/disgaea care of Djpubba. Hunted down a single evil space at the end of a sentence which made it 80 instead of 79. Version 1.20 Finally asked for help to complete the monster list. Added a couple more geo things. Seeking help for 2 more things... first for the levels that human classes are unlocked (mine are all done I cannot go and check this myself), and second for the names and best places to find the second and most powerful weapons and armors... (expecting best place to find on the second accounts is item world, for the first its probally stealing from the item god of a legendary second most powerful one). Version 1.21 Vampire family sigh :). Another site to use the faq. Added attack +1 geo's (thats the problem with doing those from memory eh). Version 1.22 Not much more to add some item world/item stuff. Tested and found the rough Armsmaster caps (its probally not 100% exact because its hard to judge the growth of weapons but its pretty close to the correct numbers). Was bored so I restarted a game and found out the human prereq levels, so their added now too. Weapon names/Armor names for the best is a work in progress not added yet, but if my intrest (which is waning due to ungodly overpowered characters with triple robo suits and the best weapons equipped) manages to hold for another week you may see that yet. Version 1.23 In keeping with checking staticians I added my two 98xx gladiators together and found that the cap is above 9999 for each stat booster. More sites to use this. Version 1.24 Other sites got 1.23 it really doesn't have much different. Added second best and best weapons for all the types (missing belt, eye-wear, all stat boosting, have the rest of them), added max cap on the specialists in the stat boosting category, 19998 for one single specialist. Quite likly the FINAL update, as I'm getting to the point where I'm losing intrest in this game (horror of horrors), Homeworld2, Counter-Strike, and work/school are consuming to much time. Have fun. That said it is then important to realize that a senators voting power is DIRECTLY related to what level they are (as in a level 1 senator gets 1 vote a level 1000 senator gets 1000 votes). Now considering that it is just as easy to bribe a level 1 senator as it is to bribe a level 1000 one, you can probably easily see that the level 1 ones are pretty much useless to you. Losing a vote will NOT result in any lost popularity with them. That said you can bribe the senators with pretty much anything, but be careful that you don't try for something that they don't like (more below). The second basic rule is that you need mana to summon the assembly... No this is not the SP that you expend to use your special attacks, instead mana is a count of how many enemy's your character has dispatched, and ONLY the character who lands the killing blow on an enemy will actually get awarded with the mana from that kill. The mana received for killing an enemy is again directly related to what level that enemy is... a level one enemy will give you a single point of mana; whereas, killing a level 1000 enemy will give you a thousand points of mana. The third basic rule of the Dark Assembly is that you need the proper influence to even have the ability to hold a vote on something. Inside the Dark Assembly you can do a few things If you press Triangle you will pop up a menu to Begin the vote or Return to the castle This is pretty straight forwards beginning the vote cannot be stopped until its done, returning to the castle is so you can bribe the senators and not lose any opinion of you (more later). Also you can highlight a senator and see how much of a vote they get (their level), and from there bribe them by pressing X (more later). ******************************************************************************* 1.2 Rank and influence When you start the game you will be rank 0 with neigh on no influence. Your rank is an indication of your power, it can be raised to a maximum of 11 by selecting promotion exam. After selecting this you have to fight whatever monsters are listed in the exam, lose and you die, win and you are promoted and you are fully healed. The higher your rank is the more influence you will have. Also related to your rank is what options you can have them vote for, someone with a low rank has a LOT less options to vote for than someone who has a rather high rank (more later). Influence is what you need to attract powerful senators to show up to your votes (it also affects how many senators will actually show up). This is a two edged sword, on the one hand having powerful senators is good because you can bribe them to the love (more later) rank and have a solid chance of them voting for you... also more senators means their are more votes which gives a better chance of overcoming the initial votes against you. However, the down side to more senators is until you have bribed them a LOT, chances are they all loath you and will vote against you. Influence is also the combined ammount of levels of the senators who show up to vote. Influence is randomly determined between set values which relate to your rank (basically the minimum is rank x 100), so rank 0 = 0 rank 1 = 100 rank 10 = 1000 etc), the maximum vary's per rank at rank 11 the highest I had was almost 6000 influence, if you don't like your influence simply "re-roll it" by exiting and starting the summon assembly again until its more to your liking. To take the Promotion Exam nothing is required except for the ability to win the fight. Their levels DO get raised/lowered with the Stronger/Weaker Enemy Bill. Minimum means that this level is as low as they can be, if you have not yet passed any of the stronger enemy bills. Maximum means that this is as high as they can be, if you have passed the stronger enemy bills 20 times. ############################################################################### Promotion Exams Minimum Maximum ############################################################################### Rank 0 ----- Automatic you start with this. Rank 1 ----- 1x Ghoul ---------- level 4 <-------------> level 60 3x Zombie --------- level 2 <-------------> level 90 Rank 2 ----- 1x Corpse --------- level 8 <-------------> level 80 2x Ghoul ---------- level 5 <-------------> level 65 Rank 3 ----- 1x Gremlin -------- level 12 <------------> level 100 3x Hobbit --------- level 9 <-------------> level 85 Rank 4 ----- 2x Guardian ------- level 20 <------------> level 140 Rank 5 ----- 1x Dark Knight ---- level 30 <------------> level 190 2x Nightmare ------ level 25 <------------> level 165 Rank 6 ----- 1x Ekim ----------- level 40 <------------> level 240 2x Wraith --------- level 34 <------------> level 210 Rank 7 ----- 1x Majin ---------- level 50 <------------> level 290 1x Centurion ------ level 45 <------------> level 265 2x Red Skull ------ level 42 <------------> level 250 Rank 8 ----- 1x Serpent -------- level 70 <------------> level 390 3x Decoy ---------- level 60 <------------> level 340 Rank 9 ----- 1x Ahzi Dahaka ---- level 100 <-----------> level 540 2x Dragon --------- level 80 <------------> level 440 Rank 10 ---- 1x Neuntoter ------ level 150 <-----------> level 790 3x Lilim ---------- level 120 <-----------> level 640 Rank 11 ---- 1x Shaitan -------- level 250 <-----------> level 1290 3x Wight ---------- level 200 <-----------> level 1040 Rank 12 ---- Grayed out, Cannot promote any higher. ############################################################################### ******************************************************************************* 1.3 How the votes work When you have a vote, you win if and only if the votes in your favor exceed the votes against you + the initial cost of the vote, for a win you need this, Votes Yes - (Votes No + initial cost) = greater than or equal to 1. the Initial cost of a vote is determined by what amount of influence you require to hold the vote... lets use Triple Exp as an example, it requires both 100 influence and 100 mana, so you need to have have at least 101 votes for yes above the votes for no to win. if you had 500 votes yes and 400 votes no you'd have a total of 500 votes yes and 500 for no which would mean you'd lose (total is 0). if you had 700 votes yes and 400 votes no then this would be a different story you'd have a total of 700 votes yes and 500 votes no so you would win that vote (total is 200). Now this having been said when you go to vote on things with a 5000 influence which also cost 5000 mana (the influence required and the mana cost are always the same), you can see how having more senators show up to vote can REALLY be beneficial (its actually possible to have everyone vote yes and still lose ones that high if you don't get enough high senators to show). ******************************************************************************* 1.4 The bribes Basically any and every item will work as a bribe, their isn't really any benefit to bribing with a legendary weapon or some supreme item as it has the same effect as using a simple candy or amulet. My advice is to stock up on the worst items you can quickly get your hands on then go to the Dark Assembly and hold a vote for whatever, it does NOT matter if you win or lose that has NO bearing on their opinion of you (of course winning is always nice), to start with pick something cheap influence and mana wise, then just bribe the highest senator into liking you (More later), and work your way on down. Bribes made to a senator affect their opinion of EVERYONE in your party not just the guy who did the bribe (so all of your characters benefit from nice senator dictator relationships). Their are different quality bribes these range from (and are random as to what senator thinks what item is what)... Simply move over a senator with the controller when your in the assembly and press X for a list to come up, scroll down this to see how much they like any particular item. They may like one piece of candy but REALLY hate another one, that another senator may like. You can ONLY hold 16 items at a time when you go into the assembly you might as well use them all As you can probably guess a Must have! item for a senator is preferable to an item their just Interested in. From my experiences playing this game the items have values according to what the senator wants for them, unfortunatly since their is not any value other than the level the senator gets to all I can do is try to guess the actual boosts that an intrest level in an item will give. ############################################################################### Must Have!----------------------is +3 (maybe +4 or 5) Interested ---------------------is +2 (maybe +3) Slightly Interested ------------is +1 Not very Interested ------------is -1 Does not want! -----------------is -3 (maybe -4 or 5) ############################################################################### A positive thing will raise their opinion of your and your bill, and a negative one will lower it. Pretty much AVOID using negative ones unless your actively trying to get the senators to hate you. ******************************************************************************* 1.5 Effects of bribes These are how the particular senator feels about you and your bill, (they have different opinions on some bills, generally speaking they like lower influence and mana bills MUCH more than higher ones... if you bribe them into loving you with high bills then they'll still love the lower ones, the ONLY real exception is that they all REALLY dislike the extort funds on (raise military funds) as it takes money from their pocket and drops every senator who attended 3-5 points if you win that bill) Bribing a Senator at one meeting will still have its effect later, after doing a bill in your favor their opinion seems to drop by 1 point, if you lose it doesn't change (or just back out of the bill). Now I shall list what ranks they have what percentage chance that they will vote for you (approximate) and how many points it will generally take to raise it to the next level) ############################################################################### Love *heart* -------------------------------------95%-99% (max) Total support ------------------------------------85%-95% (2-5 points) Strongly for -------------------------------------75%-85% (2-5 points) In favor of --------------------------------------65%-75% (2-4 points) Leaning yes --------------------------------------55%-65% (1-4 points) Either way ---------------------------------------45%-55% (1-4 points) Leaning no ---------------------------------------35%-45% (1-4 points) Against ------------------------------------------25%-35% (1-4 points) Strongly against ---------------------------------15%-25% (2-4 points) Total opposition ---------------------------------5%-15% (2-5 points) Loathe -------------------------------------------1%-5% (2-5 points) ############################################################################### Now bear in mind that these point values are not necessarily fixed as some senators are just jerks (one guy of mines is at loath despite the fact that I've dumped 6 must haves onto him so sometimes they just don't budge... possibly theirs a slight chance of just not accepting the bribe). If after lots of bribing their votes you still get "REJECTED" you can always just give up or... ******************************************************************************* 1.6 Persuade by force Basically I HIGHLY recommend AVOIDING this, simply because it will make any senator you killed drop to LOATHE automatically; however, if you REALLY want something passed and your powerful enough to handle some of the level 500 and up senators then by all means. Basically its a slugfest your side against them... A word of warning do NOT accidentally hit the senators who voted yes (they'll be yellow bars and won't move or fight), if you hit them they reverse their decision and join the fight against you. Tips and Tricks to winning this are, Simply pick up and throw all your good senators together and then throw enemy ones into him for a super senator on your side... Or toss close level enemy ones into the one on your side and hope they become that one guy). Its cheap but effective... I'm NOT sure if they still start to hate you, I'd assume as much because they still fight you. Any senators killed will remain dead (unable to vote) until you reload the game (if you kill ones in the castle they have tomestones and cannot be used)... Oddly enough, it seems if the senator loves you and you kill them their opinion of you does not always go down. Once you obtain the Tyrant rank (Laharl for defeating Baal) they will not dare to go against whatever you want. ******************************************************************************* 1.7 The proposal screen You talk to the person in front of the upper lower cage and get the options Summon assembly (takes you to the proposal screen) Tutorial (basically useless) Exit (same as pressing circle) Select the 1st option and it will take you into the proposal screen, You can now select from a list of you LIVING characters (dead ones are red, go revive them if you want to use them), it will list your rank and mana to the right and show a portrait of your character in the bottom right) After picking a character you get the following options and to the right it shows the Rank you have, the mana, how many participants will show for any bill and the influence you hold. The options you can select are and the influence needed/mana required are, and the rank at which these options are opened to you. For the ones that can be passed multiple times the mana and Influence required is listed below them. Rank Required is 0. Creating and Deleting are obvious ones, they create or delete characters. Rank Required is 0. Change name ONLY works for non pre-generated story characters. Rank Required is 0. Promotion Exam pits you against enemy monsters of increasing levels where you have to fight them solo, (see rank and influence). Rank Required is 0. Transmigrate allows you to reincarnate your character into a new class with extra stats (more later), story characters can only transmigrate into their own class. Rank Required is 3. Triple exp gives a 300% exp bonus to the next enemy killed. And only works once per vote. Rank Required is 4. Prinny day makes it so the bonus gauge has REALLY good items but you can only use prinny's on the next map (enemy units remain unchanged). Rank Required is 4. Raise Military funds gives you a SMALL amount of money not worth the loathing of the senate though. Rank Required is 0. More expensive stuff and cheaper stuff changes the items available at the shop, you need to have a customer rank equal to what you want to raise the rank up to. You CANNOT run that last one for 250 mana and influence its just grayed out. It can be passed 12 times, 20 mana/influence raise per time passed. Rank Required is 1. The customer rank itself is just how high you can raise this one, to raise your customer rank simply spend more money at the store. Stronger and Weaker enemies changes the levels of ALL enemies (up or down respectively) in the game, story, after story, item world, etc the ONLY ones unchanged are the senate. You cannot do the 1100 one that's just grayed out. It can be passed 20 times, 50 mana/influence raise per time passed. Rank Required is 5. Eyewear, belt and shoe inventory add extra ones of those items to the armor shop. Rank Required is 2. Improve Counterattack and movement add extra counters or movement range to the character who passes the bill (reset after transmigrating them). Rank Required is 3 and 4 respectivly. Prinny land, Cave of Ordeal, Human world, Alternate Neitherworld, The mysterious seal, all open extra maps to be explored, the Cave of Ordeal holds the BEST non item world map for leveling up. Rank Required is 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 respectivly. If you break the seals in the Alternate Neitherworld and for the Mysterious seal you also unlock another secret area. ******************************************************************************* 2.0 Items, item world, and specialists When you talk to the item world person you are welcomed to the item world and a menu pops up with, ############################################################################### Go to the Item World Move Residents Combine Residents Explanation (useless) ############################################################################### Selecting Go to the Item world, will bring you to a list of all of your items select one and your taken to the world inside that item (you cannot select an item that is in use and when selected that item cannot be used inside of itself) Move Residents takes Specialists that you have subdued from one item and moves them into another item, quick easy and nothing is lost, selected the donor item first, then select who is to be moved, then finally the item to receive him. Combine Residents takes any residents of the same type in one item and combines their levels so the new one is the sum of the previous two ones levels, this only works with specialists of the same type, and is typically speaking a good idea as it saves on population space As you probably know each item in this game is onto itself a dungeon, abit a randomly generated dungeon. Their are 3 classes of items Normal, Rare, and Legendary. Even if their stats may seem similar, any item after being fully powered up will be much better, Rare items are in a class of their own, that having been said if their in their own class the Legendary items would be the teachers. Normal items have 30 floors to explore, typically you'll just run thru them to kill the specialists, and to get the "Mr. Gency's Exit" from the 10th floor of the dungeon then just exit that item. Without an Exit item (Mr. Gency's) you are trapped inside the item until you complete 10 floors. If you are seeking to power up a weapon a lot, make sure that you clear every tenth floor and that you kill the item generals, kings, and god. Their is NO difference between clearing floors and skipping floors. Their is NO difference between going down 100 floors in one shot, and going down 10 at a time. In both of the above cases the item will become just as powerful as the other would, I tested this out on 4 Super Robo Suits, the first I ran straight through completing all 100 floors in one shot, the second I ran through exiting every 10 floors, the third I killed every monster for all 100 floors without exiting once, and the fourth time I killed every monster but I exited every tenth floor. (Hyperdrive's on my 4 main characters when I was fighting, or Robo Suits/ Legendary Accelerators when I was skipping the floors, I'd hyperdrive to clear the exit then run to it). In all four of my level 100 Super Robo Suits they have speed stats of (minus the specialists), at level 0 they are HP, SP, ATK, INT, SPD, HIT, and RES at 1500 and DEF is at 3000. at level 100 they all are HP, SP, ATK, INT, SPD, HIT, and RES at 18100 and DEF is at 36500. There is a slight variance on the DEF values, also the Rarity and Population are determined before their increased and as such are different (the DEF values were within 100 of each other). The reason for this is because the Super Robo Suits are armor and as such have slightly different values for their base defense. Normal items have 30 floors, rare items get more floors, legendary items get 100 floors with the ITEM GOD boss at the bottom... (level 255 monster on a legendary floor 1 will be a more powerful ITEM GOD 2 at the bottom with an item that allows you to warp to your hearts content across a map... also he will carry the next version up of whatever item you went into the item world using). The two green unique items are the same as legendarys having 100 floors. These are the Super Robo Suit, and the Hyperdrive. You can only get one of each UNLESS you complete the 100 floor dungeon inside those items and steal another one from the Item God 2 at the bottom. Other than those two green unique items their is one more green unique item for every ultimate weapon, these can ONLY be obtained by going into a legendary item of the second best weapon of that type and stealing the ultimate weapon of that type right from the boss. (This will be the black wireframe Divine Majin Item God). The Item God is the boss of a legendary item, and carrys a legendary item of the next rank up of the one you went into the item world with (the next one in terms of power). (Unconfirmed really, its easier to go find a legendary cosmic blade than to venture into ones of lesser power in the hopes of getting it this way). The Item God 2 is a black outline of a Divine Majin, he will ALWAYS have a legendary item of the same type of the item that you went into, OR he will have the next rank up of that item (only way to obtain the best weapons is to steal them from him). After you defeat the Item God 2 and return to the castle the Hyperdrive (a device that grants 99 move and 99 jump; as well as, instant movement to anyplace on the map) will be automatically placed into your inventory. Normal items typically get 3-6 population spots, rare's get 3-12 population spots, and the legendary items get 3-16 population spots... ******************************************************************************* 2.1 For specialists Specialists are "friendly" monster living inside of your weapons, armor, items etc, They display with a CHECK! when you enter a level with one, if you successfully kill them their level will double, if you encounter them in a level and their killed by you, they will become blue you can then move them freely into other items. If their is a White Dot next to the stat then it is from group 1 the stats, if the dot is next to the add then it is something from group 2 (status effects) or 3 (resistance), if it is next to the bonus then it is from group 4 (other bonuses). If the dot is white, then the specialists cannot be moved complete the items item world and the dot will become orange and they can be moved to any item with enough population) Each specialists consumes one population point on your item, if you combine two of the same ones then they take up one instead of two. ############################################################################### This 1st group has NO level cap add them non stop, 1 bonus point per level 19998 is the MAX for this specialist, multiple ones also have extra effect the same as if they were combined into one single entity, Specialists Group 1 Coach ------------------- Adds Speed (SPD) bonus. Dietician --------------- Adds Health (HP) bonus. Gladiator --------------- Adds Attack (ATK) bonus. Marksman ---------------- Adds Hit Percentage (Hit) bonus. Master ------------------ Adds Special Power (SP) bonus. Physician --------------- Adds Resistance (RES) bonus. Sentry ------------------ Adds Defense (DEF) bonus. Teacher ----------------- Adds Intelligence (INT) bonus. ############################################################################### This level group has a 100 cap (its percentage wise 1%/level) level 100 of any is ideal, you won't get any extra benefit from exceeding level 100 here. Specialists Group 2 Alchemist --------- Adds a chance of poison effect to attack. Amnesiac ---------- Adds a chance of forget effect to attack. Gangster ---------- Adds a chance of deprave effect to attack. Hypnotist --------- Adds a chance of sleep effect to attack. Professional ------ Adds a chance of critical damage effect to attack. Witch Doctor ------ Adds a chance of paralyze effect to attack. ############################################################################### Again this group has a 100 (maybe 200-300 for healing from getting hit with magic haven't gotten any of these that high yet, if you have drop me a line) cap (its percentage wise 1%/level) level 100 of any is ideal, Specialists group 3 Aeronaut ---------- Increases your resistance to wind. Coffee Maker ------ Increases your resistance to sleep. Cryophile --------- Increases your resistance to ice. Firefighter ------- Increases your resistance to fire. Medicine Man ------ Increases your resistance to paralyze. Pharmacist -------- Increases your resistance to poison. Psychologist------- Increases your resistance to forget. Social Worker------ Increases your resistance to deprave. ############################################################################### This group has a 300 cap (its percentage wise 1%/level) so 300 is ideal, The armsmaster is an exception, see below. Specialists group 4 Armsmaster -------- Gain weapon levels faster. Broker ------------ Adds extra Hell (money) for killing enemies. Manager ----------- Increases the amount of mana gained per kill. Statistician ------ Increases the Experience (EXP) gained per enemy kill. ############################################################################### Armsmasters effectivness cap varys depending on weapon competency, follow the list below to reach the max effect for your character. Because the weapon levels are hard to gauge the exact growth of these numbers are the result of trial and error, they are probally not exact numbers, but they are very close to to the actual game numbers. Djpubba claims the cap is 2400 for everything, but it doesn't seem to level up the E ranks as fast when you get to the higher levels. I'd personally go with 2400 myself as anything else wasn't really much of a difference. Weapon Rank Level of Armsmaster for max effect S ----------------------------------> 2400 A ----------------------------------> 2400-2600 B ----------------------------------> 2400-2800 C ----------------------------------> 2400-3000 D ----------------------------------> 2400-3200 E ----------------------------------> 2400-3400 You CAN go above the caps on those other ones but it will have NO additional effect, eg. a level 150 Statistician gives 150% exp, a level 300 gives 300% exp, a level 600 gives 300% exp. (by the way, resistance will nullify a bonus, so if you have 100% chance to deal poison and they had 50% resistance your chance would be 50%, if they had 100% your chance would be 0%) You CANNOT get the effect of things like the Statistician to stack by using it on different pieces of equipment at 300% the cap per character is 300% so you cannot exceed it. ******************************************************************************* 2.2 Status effects from Specialists Minor section a few questions on what they are ############################################################################### Critical - chance to deal more damage from NORMAL attacks (combos etc, NOT special attacks; also known as, bullseye) Deprave - no exp gain, pretty much useless player vs monster Forget - chance to prevent enemy from being able to use their specials Paralyze --- enemy cannot move, they can; however, still attack Poison --- poison 10% health per round OUCH Sleep --- puts enemy to sleep, only status item faerie dust or time fix this ############################################################################### ******************************************************************************* 2.3 How to combine specialists. If you take the specialists and move them onto the same item you can then choose to combine them; however, this is not exactly black and white. You can ONLY combine specialist of the same type... Eg Gladiator with Gladiator, Manager with Manager, etc. Their are two types of specialist... The first type is the standard gray specialist, these are specialists that you have NOT subdued in the item world and they cannot be moved, they can still be combined. The second type is the subdued blue specialist... These specialists have a few advantages over the standard gray ones. When you subdue a gray specialist by simply killing him in the item world, he gains the ability to move to other items, he becomes a blue specialist and his item level is doubled. Unlike how combining monsters always yeilds a fusion that is the sum of both of the previous monsters levels, combining specialists is a little bit more tricky. For instance if you were to combine gray specialists together you would get the sum of their levels. For instance a gray level 56 specialist combining with another gray level 34 specialist would become a single gray level 90 specialist. (Formula is Gray + Gray = New Gray). The same is true of the blue specialists, For instance combining a blue level 40 specialist with another blue level 76 specialist would yeild a single blue level 116 specialist. (Formula is Blue + Blue = New Blue). Now this is where it gets tricky... If you took a blue level 484 specialist and combined it with a gray level 37 specialist you would expect a gray level 521 specialist; however, instead of this you'd only have a gray level 279 specialist. The reason is since the blue specialist has a doubled level, and the gray one has not had his level doubled the new gray specialist also does not have a doubled level... (Formula is Blue/2 + Gray = New Gray). This isn't necessarly a bad thing, you cannot subdue blue specialist's again. Their is no disadvantage to adding blue and gray specialists together, that is after you resubdue them. The disadvantage is in losing the abilities of the blue one. ******************************************************************************* 2.4 Weapon/magic ranks: how to get the best bang for your time A weapon rank is how powerful that weapon will be for a particular character, for ever level you have in a weapon you will receive a general 3% bonus to all stats on that weapon... if you had rank 3 it would be 9%, rank 9 would be 27%, etc. Weapons get experience points added to their rank for each and every time you use them, when it reaches certain points the weapon rank will level up giving you new abilities and power with that type of weapon. Magic ranks work in much the same way; however, you can use them anytime you want provided you have access to that magic spell, they also gain a 3% boost to their damage for each level they have. Magic spells are learned by simply gaining levels on your character OR by using a pupil who has that spell, placing the pupil next to their mentor and then using the spell on the mentor until the mentor reaches level 1 with that spell (after that it is always on the mentor as a spell). Weapon special ranks are the special abilities unlocked from reaching certain weapon levels, these work exactly the same as magic ranks but give the added bonus of also raising the weapon rank when they are used (every level again adds 3% to the weapon special damage). These are special attacks that you can only use when you are equipped with a weapon of that type. You learn these by leveling up the Weapon rank OR by using a pupil who has that weapon special ability, placing the pupil next to their mentor and then using the special ability on the mentor until the mentor reaches level 1 with that special ability (after that it is always on the mentor as a spell). Different character types have different affinities for each kind of weapon, for instance the ultimate human class Majin get a S rank in each weapon type, this means that they will gain more experience per attack with that weapon compared to classes that do not have a S rank in that type. The ranks go in ascending order (worst to best) from, E -> D -> C -> B -> A -> S. E being the worst, S being the best. These include are Axes, Bows, Fists, Guns, Spears, Staves (Staff) and Swords. Magic on the other hand does NOT have affinities for any character, everyone will gain magic levels from using the magical spell at equal rates. The same is true of the weapon special skills. To quickly gain weapon levels make sure that you are using a character with a high affinity for the weapon, and then add armsmasters to taste, their does seem to be a cap on the armsmasters, thanks to djpubba for making me have to recheck my figures by telling me his. I'd be tempted to go with 2400 as the max myself. S = 2400 A = 2400-2600 B = 2400-2800 C = 2400-3000 D = 2400-3200 E = 2400-3400 ******************************************************************************* 2.5 The best and second best stuff Due to a EXTREMLY high volume of questions on what the best and second best equipment in this game is, I've gone and done what is crazy to obtain these things. The rank given to an item is where that item fits in its list, generally speaking each type of item gets 40 different ranks of power, I say generally speaking because this game enjoys being unpredictable, and likes taking the road less traveled. Also the item at rank 40 will be green in color and will be considered Unique (same as legendary its just to signify the ultimate item of that type). I'm pretty sure that no items exceed Rank 40. To obtain MOST rank 40 items you need to obtain a legendary rank 39 one go down to the 100th floor and steal the rank 40 ultimate from the Item God 2 at the bottom. The best way to obtain a legendary rank 39 item is to steal it from the enemy (so keep those eyes peeled and a high level Space Pirate in the wings). Or another method I've tried is to abuse the Prinny Day/Bonus Gague Boost from the Dark Assembly in order to get high level legendary items from the Bonus menu after clearing a battle map. (It's pretty effective provided you build a few level 400+ Prinny's to do the dirty work, Prinny Day increases the power of items obtained after battle; however, you can ONLY bring Prinny's into that battle). Just hope to see whatever item your after, Rank 39 items seem to spawn best on levels that give a bonus of 50 or higher. Or high level Item World maps would work wonders too. For the monster weapons Nemesis, and Nemesis Mark-II they must be stolen from Baal, and Uber Prinny Baal, level 4000 and 6000 respectivly. These Weapons are at level 100 to begin with and as such CANNOT be powered up in the item world. The same is true of Uber Prinny Baal's Prinny Suit. It also is automatically level 100. You can get the Super Robo Suit from two ways, (it is the BEST peice of equipment at level 100 it boosts 18100 to all stats, more to defense. It also grants +3 movement and +30 jump) these methods are either steal it from Baal's first form, or go into a legendary Nirvana suit of armor and steal it from the Item God 2 at the bottom. You can get the Hyperdrive from one of two methods, either go into any legendary rank 39 or greater item and kill the Item God 2 at the bottom, or go into a legendary Accelerator and steal it from the Item God 2 at the bottom. This is the BEST movement item granting 99 move and 99 jump; as well as, instantenous movement anywhere, including over impossible 20 space gaps. Obtaining a rank 40 item is worth it, they have by far the best stats and for weapons its more than just damage for example, the Yoshitesuna has other bonuses aside from adding 18100 to all stats (more to attack), it also has other bonuses, it adds 2 to movement and 20 to jump; as well as, a nice range attack (5 spaces). ############################################################################### Item Type Rank Item Name ############################################################################### Armor ------------------- 39 ------------------------- Nirvana ------------------- 40 ------------------------- Super Robo Suit Prinny Baal's ----------- 39 ------------------------- Prinny Suit ############################################################################### Axe --------------------- 39 ------------------------- Durandal --------------------- 40 ------------------------- Apocalypse ############################################################################### Bow --------------------- 39 ------------------------- Artemis --------------------- 40 ------------------------- Galaxy ############################################################################### Fist -------------------- 39 ------------------------- God's Hand -------------------- 40 ------------------------- Ultimus ############################################################################### Gun --------------------- 39 ------------------------- Infernal Gun --------------------- 40 ------------------------- Etoile ############################################################################### Monster ----------------- 39 ------------------------- Lucifer Force ----------------- 40 ------------------------- Nyanko Soul Baal's ----------------- 39 ------------------------- Nemesis Prinny Baal's ----------- 39 ------------------------- Nemesis Mk-II ############################################################################### Sword ------------------- 39 ------------------------- Cosmic Blade ------------------- 40 ------------------------- Yoshitesuna ############################################################################### Spear ------------------- 39 ------------------------- Longinus ------------------- 40 ------------------------- Glorious ############################################################################### Staff ------------------- 39 ------------------------- Galactic Staff ------------------- 40 ------------------------- Omniscient Staff ############################################################################### Other (Shoes?) ---------- 39 ------------------------- Accelerator ------------------- 40 ------------------------- Hyperdrive ******************************************************************************* 3.0 Transmigration Transmigration is simply put killing your character and using their soul, reincarnating it into a new body with new abilities. The first time you use Transmigration you will not get any bonus above the points that you would get anyway. However, if you transmigrate your character a second time you will get a stat bonus according to how many levels/stats you had lost to the transmigration before... In my case my second trasnmigration added 30 points to allocate, as opposed to my first one having only 10. When you transmigrate; however, you will get automatic bonus points displayed in blue on top of the base (yellow) points that cannot be re-allocated, these are a bonus determined from how high your stats were PRIOR to the transmigration. You can add the bonus points on top of them. I am sure that the yellow ones are base points because the bonus points are added onto the blue ones. Also the higher a character's initial stats the higher their stats will grow... It seems that the base stats are increased by the Aptitude section of the Status screen, Aptitude ranges from 50% to 150%, and is simply how much of a stat that that particular character will gain each and every time they level. Very few characters have 100% or higher to everything. (for instance Laharl gets 100% to everything, so his base stats will be added to each level increase, if he had 10 to start at the next level he'd have 20 then 30 etc), whereas, others get 50% or 150% so if they had 10 they'd get 15, 20, 25 and 25, 40, 55 respectively in those stats... Their are 6 Classes of Transmigrated characters, and unless that character is a story one you can also change the class of the character to something else. You need to be Rank 3 in the Dark assembly to unlock the ability to Transmigrate your character. If you transmigrate a human type character he or she is locked into the human classes they can only pick from other human classes and prinnys. If you transmigrate a monster type character it is locked into the monster type classes (haven't done any of them yet but it would make sense for them to be able to go into the prinny class and from the prinny class into the humans classes and vice versa...) So if that is true then to get from a monster to a human class you would need at least one transmigration into a prinny type. And prinny types may possibly be able to go into every other type of class, again because I have yet to transmigrate any of my monsters I do not know for sure. When you transmigrate the reason that you don't get any additional bonus points to spend the first time is because you haven't banked any levels in your tranmigration pool. In my case my first transmigration was at 1500; however, when I transmigrated I had no levels in the pool because it was the first time. The second time I transmigrated the previous 1505 levels I had lost when I transmigrated were in the transmigration pool and they were what had given me the bonus, in that sense the additional bonus points will NOT matter on what level you transmigrate at its the total combined levels that you have lost to transmigration prior to that one. When you transmigrate from a higher level you get more base stats based on how high they were before, So ideally, you would transmigrate a lot until you had 50,000-100,000 levels banked into your level pool, build to at least 6000 transmigrate again and then build back up once more, after that gets high transmigrate yet again to recieve the most bang for your character. ******************************************************************************* 3.1 Transmigration options When you select Transmigration from the Dark Assembly it requires 100 influence and takes 100 mana just to start it from there you get 6 category's. Ability Bonus is how many extra points you get to spend when creating a character. Inheritance Rate is how many skills you retain from mastered weapons, and pupil learning. *note* You will lose ALL mana, your rank, and your movement/counterattack bills if they were passed when you transmigrate yourself. As well as, be dropped to a new more potentially powerful level 1 character. My first transmigration was at level 1505 (with nothing equipped) To a Genius of course, (with both movement and counter bills passed). ########################################### Laharl Demon Prince LV 1505 COUNTER 3 MV 7 JM 20 HP 49128/49128 SP 5434/5434 ATK 8206 INT 6159 DEF 5443 SPD 7492 HIT 8180 RES 6120 EXP 1726005141 NEXT 835159 ########################################### My Second transmigration was at level 1503 (with nothing equipped) Again to a Genius of course, (move and counter bills passed). ########################################### Laharl Demon Prince LV 1503 COUNTER 3 MV 7 JM 20 HP 91956/91956 SP 12862/12862 ATK 24391 INT 14197 DEF 12827 SPD 16237 HIT 17546 RES 14166 EXP 1721955860 NEXT 296965 ########################################### As you can see the post transmigration Laharal was SIGNIFIANTLY more powerful. This is a difference of, (this is what was gained) ########################################### Laharl Demon Prince LV -2 COUNTER 0 MV 0 JM 0 HP +42828 SP +7428 ATK +16185 INT +8038 DEF +7384 SPD +8745 HIT +9366 RES +8046 EXP -4049281 NEXT XXXX ########################################### As you can plainly see, transmigrating a character DRASTICALLY improves their power,Every stat went up considerably, the reason attack went up higher than the rest was because I put the extra 10 points into attack. The first time you transmigrate into a Genius you get +10 bonus points to play with,on my second transmigration I had 30 bonus points to distribute (on top of the blue bonus points) Your counter and movement are reset after your first transmigration if you have improved them at the Dark Assembly, also for subsequent (additional) transmigrations they will be reset again. So if you transmigrate reliably (doesn't really matter when just if you do it higher you'll get a larger increase sooner), you can see that your characters will quickly become god-like. As you can see transmigration will NOT cost you experience points to reach the same level, level up points are fixed and don't increase with transmigration. This is an example for Laharl, for other classes the cost to transmigrate to each level is equal to what it is normally to create them at that level. ############################################################################### Good-for-nothing: Honestly the name says it all requires 1 mana to reincarnate to this; however, you lose 5 points from your bonus, and only have a 15% Inheritance rate. Incompetent: Almost as bad as a Good-for-nothing, only requires 10 mana, but you only get one extra bonus point to spend, and you get a 30% Inheritance rate. Average: The paupers prince, 50 mana required, 3 extra bonus points, and 45% Inheritance. Skilled: Nobility, 200 mana required, gives 6 extra bonus points and 60% Inheritance. Distinguished: Akin to a king, requires 1000 mana, gives 8 extra bonus points, and has 80% Inheritance. Genius: Truly a king among kings, requires 5000 mana, gives an extra 10 bonus points, and has a 95% Inheritance rate. Best Choice hands down. ############################################################################### If your rank is NOT high enough you will need council approval for most of these ranks for transmigration so be sure to butter them up, if you haven't or you've been "aggressive" this is where it will come back to haunt you. You should ALWAYS go with the Genius class, the rest are wasted time. After selecting what you want to go to distribute your bonus points, and don't forget that depending on the class that you pick they will directly influence the stats that you gain per level. Personally I'm an attack point freak, I love to dump them into that. After this if its a NON story character you can select what class to put them in and rename them if you wish... Disturbing that a male can become a woman and so forth but hey its reincarnation after all. After you have distributed your points it will go to the new status screen, press X when done looking at him. You will be informed that you Transmigrated. ******************************************************************************* 3.2 Since were on the topic of stats, pupils Any created character class is open to be anyone's pupil, provided that the character to be mentored has created them. The mentor enjoys SEVERAL benefits the pupil few. For combos they enjoy a VERY high success rate (same weapon = 99%), Whenever the Pupil levels up the mentor gets a minor bonus of his pupils base stats (not much but its easy points). These are lost if the mentor transmigrates. Also if the pupil knows a skill the mentor doesn't, provided the mentor is touching the pupil, the mentor can learn that skill, after it levels to level 1 he learns it forever... (I'd assume that weapon related skills are still restricted to use when you have that weapon type equipped). This does allow you to gain various abilities that otherwise are not feasible or impossible for a particular character to get (spells on Laharl for instance); however, monster abilities, and story character specific ones are of course locked onto that type of monster. And as above, a genius is a far FAR better pupil than some Good-for-nothing class would be. ******************************************************************************* 4.0 Geo Stuff Because of forum and e-mail's asking me to explain these as well here you go. Geo means earth, so these are effects on the terrain upon which your characters will tread. Why should you care you might ask, simple... The bonuses you can gain from geo panels can really help to speed up level gain, and knowing which ones to avoid with a passion can save you from defeat. Also by destroying these panels in the right order (mostly inside item world maps pretty much all of the regular maps don't have chains you can get long enough for huge bonuses) you quickly fill your bonus gauge. The bonus gauge is a meter showing which items you will get after you win the battle, the higher it is the better. To get a good chain going make sure that you destroy NULL symbols last, try to pick out which color does NOT have a geo symbol of the same color and remove it first, then just take the rest off in time so that you get all the panels to change color, you can get chains into the thousands of color changes (they get vastly quicker at changing when their are more colors involved and the damage that results from the change gets higher and higher). ******************************************************************************* 4.1 Geo Panels These are the multi colored panels where a geo effect may take place, Their are 6 potential geo panel types... red, green, blue, yellow, purple, and nothing. The nothing panels are of course just normal terrain they cannot get geo bonuses. ******************************************************************************* 4.2 Geo Symbols These are the small pyramids that can be around the map, these can rest on any type of terrain... But if they are not on a geo panel they will not affect anything. Their are color types of geo symbol pyramids, these are red, green, blue, yellow, purple, and null (clear). If you cause the destruction of a geo symbol while it is on a geo panel it will change the color of all the geo panels, of the color on which it was destroyed, to that which the geo symbol was. For instance destroying a red geo symbol on a blue geo panel will make all blue geo panels turn to red ones. Also in destroying a geo symbol you destroy its effect... Quite often it is in your best interest to destroy the effect of a geo panel as soon as possible. And sometimes its in your best interest to avoid destroying them. This is because if a geo symbol of any color is on a geo panel of any color it will grant the effect of that geo symbol to all geo panels of the color that the symbol is on. Their are several potential effects that geo symbols can have, not all of them are beneficial to you. ******************************************************************************* 4.3 Types of Geo Symbols ############################################################################### Ally Damage 20%-40% (hurts ONLY your troops by the effect % of your units maximum health, these stack effect up to 100% or instant death). ############################################################################### Damage 20%-40% (hurts everyone on that panel color friend and foe by the effect % of their maximum health, these stack effect up to 100% or instant death). ############################################################################### Exp +50%-100% (grants a bonus in experience for killing a unit while you are standing on a panel of that color, these stack effect up to 150-200%). ############################################################################### Def +50% (grants a defensive bonus while on a panel of that color, these stack effects up to 200%). ############################################################################### Def -50% (removes the defensive value while on a panel of that color, these stack effects up to 100%, ouch). ############################################################################### Attack +50% (grants an offensive bonus while on a panel of that color, these stack effect to 200%). ############################################################################### Attack -50% (removes the offensive value while on a panel of that color, these stack effect up to 100%, ouch). ############################################################################### Attack +1 (adds another attack, if you use a physical attack you get 2, if you use magic you get 2, if you use a special attack as in a weapon ability, you only get one, this effect stats up to +4 for a potential combo of 200). ############################################################################### Warp (randomly teleports any unit on the same panel color as the geo symbol with this effect from one of those tiles to another of them). ############################################################################### Clone (randomly picks a unit and creates an exact replica... Currently we do not know how to steal from them, or how to capture them). ############################################################################### Invincibility (grants complete immunity to damage, the ONLY exceptions to this are from Ally Damage, and Damage symbols). ############################################################################### Recovery 20%-40% (heals any unit on the panel color that the symbol is on by the effect % of their maximum health, these stack effect to 100% full healing). ############################################################################### No Lifting (restricts units from being lifted off of those tiles; however, units standing on them can still lift things off of them). ############################################################################### No Entry (restricts units from crossing those geo panel colors; however, by throwing at an angle you can bypass them). ############################################################################### No Color Change (prevents tiles of that color from being changed irregardless of what is destroyed on them... Destroying it on another color geo panel will change that ones color). ############################################################################### Enemy Boost x3/6 (multiply's all of the enemy's stats by the number can stack to 12, very very dangerous). ############################################################################### Enemy Boost 50% (stacks to 150-200%, boosts the enemy's everything by that amount similar to enemy stat boost, very very dangerous). ############################################################################### ******************************************************************************* 5.0 Enemy Capture vs Creation You can capture any NON boss monster in the game. If your unsure of its a boss, you can find out by seeing if its hands down more powerful than the others around, and if you got a story when you entered the level... If you didn't get a story its NOT a boss monster, if you did and its powerful chances are its a boss. Also its RISKY to say the least to try and capture monsters... If you fail it will kill EVERYONE inside your base panel (which in my opinion is EXTREMELY useful for cheesing the hospital bonuses); however, succeed and its yours. Basically it follows a formula of monsters level vs your character levels, but it REALLY helps to have a weakened monster. So weaken the monster, and make sure that your teammates inside the base panel can kill it with a single turn of attacks or all is lost. (for instance I've had a level 40 dragon eat a bunch of level 200's inside my base panel before, and on the other hand early on I threw a level 40 dragon into my base panel at full health with a lot of low level guys and they beat him down... you got to love random chance). Its worth it to capture them; however, because of what you get, not only an already leveled monster, but you avoid the INSANE creation costs of making monsters. For Creating monsters the cost is directly related to how many of that type of monster you have killed. The more you have killed the cheaper the cost to create one of them... That's the gist of creating them. Their are 5 types of each monster and human class, to unlock monster classes simply kill one of that type. For some of them I think they ONLY appear in item worlds or the Dark assembly (when you fight against them). You CANNOT capture human classes, I threw a weakened level 3 into my base with several level 8,000's in there... the level 3 made short work of them. ******************************************************************************* 5.1 Official capture formula Thanks to Djpubba, When you throw a monster onto your base panel, a battle will ensue. If you win, you capture the monster. If they win, they destroy your base panel. You can only capture regular monsters, not humanoids or bosses. Even though you can throw humanoids onto the base panel, it's futile, because they will always win — even the weakest ones. You can't use the captured monster unless you win the rest of the battle. The things that affect the outcome of the battle to capture a monster are the monster's Level, HP and SP, versus the Level, HP and SP of the allies still inside the base panel when you toss them onto it. Who does the tossing doesn't matter at all. Hitting buttons during the battle doesn't do anything either. The beginning of the battle is waged with SP. The amount of damage the monster does is based on his level. A level 100 monster will use a magic skills using 100 SP for each attack to attack your allies one at a time in random order. How much damage each of his attacks does to each character is based on your character's stats versus his (Int vs. Res, etc.). When the monster runs out of SP, they'll start attacking with their weapon. At the same time, your characters will be attacking him. The amount of damage you do to him is also based on your level. A level 100 ally will use a magic attack using 100 SP to attack the enemy. Again, the amount of damage is based on the character's stats versus the monster's. If he runs out of HP before all your allies run out of HP, you win. If he manages to wipe out the HP of all your allies inside the base panel, he wins and the panel is destroyed. So, a good strategy for capturing monsters is to work their HP and SP down as low as possible before throwing them in, and make sure the allies still inside the panel are capable of damaging that high a level of monster with magic attacks. To get Human classes, prerequisite classes and levels are needed, for example what level the brawler becomes a pugilist etc, for all the human classes. All classes have 6 types of power with one single stupid exception, the Prinny's only have 5 classes. -- Thanks to Djpubba for that one. Restarted a game to find out the levels unlocked for the classes, their not 100% exact but they should be within a few levels of the correct ones. The level required to unlock the next one of the class is listed directly under the name of that class, following the same pattern as the names. Its a work in progress roughly 30% done the monster move sets including the levels that they are learned at (thanks to HaiYang Sun). These are the special abilities that can be drawn out of characters or weapons which grant them incredible powers. Their are two methods to draw these powers out, the basic one is to just level a character up to the level required for the spell, to draw the powers out of the weapons; however, you must first use that weapon often enough until it reaches the level required (you can check this on in the status screen). Since as the skills or spells themselves level up it changes the required amount of mana their is no point to list it. ******************************************************************************* 7.1 Weapon special skills Weapon Special Skills are learned by leveling up the weapon level. Once I noticed that they were all fixed at levels 1->3->6->10->15->20 doing this one became really easy. They are unlocked by using that weapon multiple times, they can only be used when that weapon type is equipped and are carried over with transmigration. I would recommend adding a high level armsmaster to any weapon from which you are trying to draw its powers out of... In addition to the special abilities that are granted when the weapon reaches a certain level, for each level you have in a weapon it gains a 3% overall boost to that weapons stats. When you level up the skills themselves they also gain a 3% damage bonus for each level that they have, and as you level them up it adds more to your weapons level. ONLY human classes can unlock the powers of weapons, monster classes cannot equip normal weapons. ############################################################################### The Axe grants the powers of, Boulder Crush ----------> at level 1 Skull Splitter ---------> at level 3 Colossal Fissure -------> at level 6 Violent Storm ----------> at level 10 Graviton Bomb ----------> at level 15 Calamity Drive ---------> at level 20 ############################################################################### The Bow grants the powers of, Poison Arrow -----------> at level 1 Dark Flash -------------> at level 3 Delta Split ------------> at level 6 Sturmhimmel ------------> at level 10 Zielregen --------------> at level 15 Doppelganger -----------> at level 20 ############################################################################### The Fist grants the powers of, Triple Strike ----------> at level 1 Tiger Charge -----------> at level 3 Lion's Roar ------------> at level 6 King of Beasts ---------> at level 10 Rising Dragon ----------> at level 15 Big Bang ---------------> at level 20 ############################################################################### The Gun grants the powers of, Tri-Burst --------------> at level 1 Rapidfire --------------> at level 3 Proximal Shot ----------> at level 6 Bullet Storm -----------> at level 10 Totenkreuz -------------> at level 15 Inferno ----------------> at level 20 ############################################################################### The Spear grants the powers of, Impaler ----------------> at level 1 Sky Lunge --------------> at level 3 Asteroid Drop ----------> at level 6 Avalanche --------------> at level 10 Turbulance -------------> at level 15 Spear Storm ------------> at level 20 ############################################################################### The Sword grants the powers of, Blade Rush -------------> at level 1 Hurricane Slash---------> at level 3 Wind Cutter ------------> at level 6 Winged Slayer ----------> at level 10 Nightsever -------------> at level 15 Dimension Slash --------> at level 20 ############################################################################### The Staff grants the powers of, Nothing. ############################################################################### ******************************************************************************* 7.2 Normal class specific character spells Class Specific skills are learned by leveling up the class. These are in addition to the Weapon Special Skills that any human class can learn. Unfortunately these are not fixed at a particular level so it took me quite a while to figure these ones out. To unlock these powers, all you need is to be in the correct class, and just fight enemy's until the characters level reaches the required one. When you use their spells for every level they gain they will get a 3% boost to how effective they are. ############################################################################### Angel's (female) can learn, (Upon creation they get a 33.3% chance of getting one of the three basic elements Fire, Wind, or Ice... An unconfirmed trick along the same lines is to chuck all the enemies on a floor into a specialist to power it up then kill the specialist to double its level. May not work though, I doubt it does. -- I confirmed that this does not really work, it will raise the specialists level up; however, the level that the specialist is when you subdue it doesn't have any effect on the power that the specialist would grant the weapon. The monster's level and the level that you see in the specialist section of the weapon are not directly related. Of course most people already know that using a weapon on an enemy will raise the weapon level of that weapon... This also applys if the weapon does no damage... So take it to an area such as 5-3 and fight the monsters on the invincibility panels to raise a weapon... Its not really all that quick but it sure beats the alternative. Make sure you have an armsmaster on the character who is going to be using the weapon it helps speed this up. Clone duping.... **Update** Tried for an hour to steal with the 5% chance off a clone no luck so I'm leaning towards a display error for that one. You can steal stats from them. I'm NOT sure if you can also take control of them by chucking them into your base panel... mainly because I've yet to try that, but it'd probably work for all non story characters (then again its got copy on the characters status name so maybe not). To get lots of HL (hell/money) quick just beat on high level monsters, alternatively, try that duping trick with expensive items... You can Lift your characters, lift again, and again building a pyramid, then throw them one after another... Also along this line if you press sideways just as you throw you'll throw at a diagonal angle. Invincibility for a sacrifice, If you are fighting powerful monsters and fear for your guys life, use a low level guy to lift that character and the lifted character is invincible for the turn he cannot be targeted; however, if several guys are nearby and theirs area of effect attacks going on he may still be hit so just use it if he's alone, or if theirs only the one monster, lift that and everyone's invincible (as the monster cannot attack and loses its turn thus cannot hurt you). Chuck a monster into your base panel when you KNOW it will kill everyone inside, then use a character to kill it and revive your downed party members to get rewards from the hospital (really useful at low levels). Flip the switch on the skull at the desk, and one behind the throne to unlock Etna's secret room, visit it each chapter to get a Testament item there on the final one (its a +200 to all item, useful but not enough so that its going to affect the game). Buy and sell items to raise your customer rank if you want better stuff but don't want to actually use what's there. The Cave of Ordeal has monsters on a 50% exp bonus (combine with a level 300 Statistician for some crazy exp) you can kill them all with a few winged slashes, (just do the lift trick to prevent yourself from damage and to keep them all nice and close). A magical spells area of affect can be rotated by using the square button on the controller, its really easy to do but apperently many people don't realize it. ******************************************************************************* 8.1 Bugs The only one I've come across is having too many characters to actually send them out into battle (I'm not sure on the number, but when you exceed a certain ammount of guys if you create any new ones beyond that they cannot EVER be sent out into battle). I had a space pirate who was unusable for this reason. Item world bug, where an area can spawn with monsters, the exit, or a specialist that is completly unreachable even with a sideways throw... Or the exit to the level can spawn so high up that you cannot hope to reach it. Also often their are no warp tiles, to take you to the other areas. If this happens you have 3 choices, reset, use an emer'gency' exit, or try to skip the level by going thru the exit (if possible), or killing everything. Often enough it is impossible to progress if the floor spawns wrong. However, if you use a Gency's Exit the floor will be reset and you can progress further. Display errors noted when trying to steal from enemies, specifically clones. ******************************************************************************* 9.0 People who have credits and thanks for helping out The Young and Mighty Pang for the monster moves and levels learned.
