VERSION HISTORY \*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ Version 0.50 ------------ Started the basics of the FAQ. Went through all the in depth things and ready to put them in. Also changed the ASCII art title. I have started to play the game over again and found some good things to include. It should be a good guide, I hope. The guide now slightly started but not ready to be posted yet. Version 0.75 ------------- Added a lot to the guide. Did the walkthrough for South Africa, Namibia and Mozambique, the rest of the regions are coming in the final version. Went through all the other things in the game like weapons and animals. I also made a few adjustments to the formatting. The guide is close to being complete. Submitted it to Gamefaqs and accepted. More updates are due. Version 0.80 ------------ Made a few slight adjustments and updated the allowed sites list. Also changed the copyright information. I also tried to make the guide a little more familiar with the gameplay so I added a little more information to it. Not much different to the previous version but you might notice some changes. The guide will be left at this version for a while as I have much to complete until the next update. Version 1.00 (final) -------------------- Here it is. The guide is complete to the full extent. I have changed a few little things here and there which nobody probably notices, and most importantly I did the rest of the missions walkthrough. One major thing you might notice is that the introduction has been cut short. I realised it was way to long and people probably got frightened when they saw the wall of text so I shortened it slightly. This is a major change to the previous version. I also changed the ASCII art title again to something more appropriate. And once again some more formatting changes. This is truly one of my best guides and it is now complete to the 100% extent with all information fully put in. /*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ |2. INTRODUCTION \*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ Given the fact that I absolutely love these hunting games, I found myself bored as hell one day so I shopped around and found this newly released game. After about a week or so I found my way around this game completely and ended up finishing it to the complete extent. Keeping in mind that I was already on holidays from school, I saw that the number of guides for this game is very low. So what the heck. I decided to have another go at a walkthrough. So here is what I like to call the ultimate guide for Cabelas African Safari. This guide covers everything you need to know about the game. Because of my constant habit of making mistakes, any error pointers or extra information you have for me would be largely appreciated. My ability in this game is probably at about 100%. Like most of these nature and hunting ones, I really enjoy them so playing them becomes my only purpose in life, except after I finish them completely at which point I will decide to write a guide :) Now as you know, this is only about my third attempt at a complete walkthrough so bear with me for the time being. I’m fairly confident though that this really is the best guide you will ever find on the web for this game. I have carefully gone through each mission in all different regions of the game. You will find a brief guide in completing the mission and how to do it to the best and fullest extent. And obviously so, you will find any other information about the game in here. So without further ado, I present to you, my ultimate guide which is a simple gift from me to you. Enjoy. Game background ---------------- Cabela is actually a large retail business based in the U.S which sells outdoor accessories. In time, they eventually based videogames on themselves, which were produced by Activision. This is yet another one of them. African Safari made its debut in Australia in 2007 while the U.S released it a little earlier in 2006. These games for some reason aren’t too popular, but nonetheless still enjoyable. You get to travel to the different regions in Africa and hunt some of the biggest and most dangerous animals around. It is slightly different to most other hunting games as finding the animal is not as difficult. Things like animal calls etc aren’t needed in the game so they aren’t available. This was kind of a let down as it did get too easy after a while. However, this game is credited for its introduction of new features in the game which are never seen in any other games so this was quite convenient. Playing this game requires a Playstation 2 analogue control. There is a multiplayer mode available to play as well. Cabelas African Safari is Copyright © Activision and Cabela. /*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ |3. MAIN MENU \*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ Your main menu looks like this: ------------ Safari Hunt ------------ This is the main story mode of the game. Basically you have travelled to Africa on a hunting journey. You must complete all types of different set hunts to become an ultimate hunter of Africa. Good luck. ------------- Instant Hunt ------------- Play any random hunt. ------------ Open Safari ------------ Here you can re-do any certain hunt which you liked in Safari hunt mode. Choose the region and then the hunt. -------------- Wing Shooting -------------- You can either practice your wing shooting by doing all the wing shooting missions again, enter a tournament where you must get a certain score to progress on or you can play the Hot Seat mode where you and a friend play wing shooting missions in a test of who is better as you must get a higher score to win. -------- Options -------- In depth set up of the game. You can change things like camera angles, controls etc. -------- Credits -------- View the game credits. /*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ |5. GAMEPLAY \*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ Well this section is basically made to run you through the gameplay basics of the game. You need to be aware of many things. ------------------ Playing the Game ------------------ Like most games you have an obvious health meter. Your health is represented by the red moving line in the bottom left corner. The bigger the lines bumps are, the more health you have. It’s kind of like the hospital machines. You also need to be aware of the different techniques you can use in hunting. If you’re someone who doesn’t want to wait for animals to come close enough to you then you could always just barge in at them and take shots. Although this isn’t what hunting is about, and it makes it more difficult as the animals will know you are there and run away. As you play the game, you will be required to track down animals. Sometimes they can be hard to find so look around and you should find animal tracks (old tracks will have red bugs flying around them). The track information box will tell you what animal it is, how much it possibly weighs, the direction it went and how long ago it was. This is a very useful feature in the game so I suggest you get used to it. ------------------ Difficulty Levels ------------------ Before starting a new game you have the option of 3 different difficulty levels. They are Novice, Experienced and Expert. Each one gets harder and harder. Beginners should start with the Novice difficulty. If you are looking for a great challenge then you can try playing on Expert. ----------- The Radar ----------- Your radar sits in the top right corner of your screen. On it you will be able to see all animals around you (except when playing on Expert difficulty). Each animal is represented by a coloured dot and a larger circle around it. If at any time you enter the animals circle, they will detect you. The 3 different colour dots on the radar are red, yellow and green. Red dot animals are those who are dangerous and will attack, yellow dot animals are the ones who are scared and will run away and green dot animals are the animals you are currently hunting for. The radar also shows you the essential directions of North, East, South and West. --------------------------------- Hunter Sense and Adrenaline Mode --------------------------------- These 2 modes will help you very much while playing the game. Hunter sense can be activated by pressing the R2 button and will slow down time allowing you to get a clear shot on any animal no matter how fast they are moving. Adrenaline mode is activated by pressing the L2 button. This is said only to be used when being attacked by animals. Anyway, this will help you when in danger of attacking beasts. It will also slow down time again and put a yellow circle over the attacking animal. If you put your aimer over the yellow circle, it will turn red indicating that you have a clear kill shot. This will kill the animal instantly. /*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ |6. SAFARI HUNT \*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ In Safari hunt, you must abide by certain rules and regulations. Basically you cannot kill any animals other than the one specified by your crew. If you do so you will be given a few warnings first and if you still keep doing it, the crew will end the hunt and you will fail the mission. You also have a certain time limit for each hunt. The circle in the top left corner of the screen represents how much time you have remaining. As said earlier, to complete the Safari, you must complete all the set hunts in every different region. Once you do that, you are the ultimate hunter of Africa. Throughout all of your Safari Hunt missions, you will get all types of help from your crew. They will usually tell you the quick basics of your current hunt but you can talk to them for extra information at any time by pressing the SELECT button. You can talk to one of the following people -Tracker- He tells you about the animals you are hunting and where they will most likely be and what they enjoy doing. -Porter- He tells you which rifle is best for your current animal. -Guide- He will basically tell you interesting facts about where you are, your surroundings and more. He can really help you in finding animals. -------- Hunting -------- Your main practice throughout the game is hunting animals. As a result, the hunting types vary to: -Regular hunts- These are just normal hunts where you must find the stated animal and take it down. Do not shoot any other animals other than the ones specified or you will fail the current hunt. Even if they attack you, its best to try to run away from them or at least shoot them a few times so they end up running. -Tracking hunts- These hunts involve you to use your tracking skills to find and hunt a certain animal. The animal will not be on the map until you go over all its tracks. His tracks can be found at the places marked red on the map. You will see small red bugs flying around a certain area, that’s the tracks. Just keep following where they tell you to go and you will be lead to the animal. -Baiting hunts- These hunts are fun but dangerous. The crew have set up a bait station for the meat eating animals. A good strategy is to find the bait stations and get there before the animals so you can easily have a shot at them when they arrive. This is kind of hard though as its difficult to find the bait. The most basic way is simply finding the animals as usual but they will be distracted by the bait so you can easily take them down. Don’t get too close though as they can smell quite good and will easily spot you and go after you. -Wing hunts- These are the easiest of all hunts. A very good way to get started of. This involves you taking down 5 of a certain bird in the nearby forest. They fly out everywhere and there are many of them so you shouldn’t have too much trouble shooting them. If they fly away before you have taken down the required amount, then simply approach the trees again and they will fly out. -Herd hunts- In this type of hunting you will be required to take down 5 of a certain animal from the back of a moving jeep. The animals will be in large herds so it’s easy to shoot them. -Trophy hunts- These occur at the very end of a region after you have completed all the other set hunts. These hunts are very difficult as they require you to hunt a big game animal which is due to always attack you when you approach it. Though this isn’t the real challenge. The hardest thing of all is that you must hunt ‘The great’ of that animal which is a slightly bigger and darker one than all the rest. You will have to do some serious sighting to find them. If you shoot a non trophy animal then you immediately fail. /*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ |7. THE WALKTHROUGH \*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ Now that everything else is out of the way, let’s get on in completing the game, shall we? +=--=+=--=+*+=--= A) SOUTH AFRICA +=--=+=--=+*+=--= ------------------------------- 5 Turtle doves (Wing shooting) ------------------------------- Just walk straight ahead and the doves will be flying out of the tree. They aren’t that fast so you shouldn’t have trouble shooting them. If you find them too hard to shoot because you are inaccurate, you can use your hunter sense mode. Take down 5 of them and you’re done. ------------------------ 3 Impalas (Regular hunt) ------------------------ Look on the map and find the lakes. The Impala could sometimes be hanging around at water sources so you can try them. They can also be found in some open dry areas. Usually where there is shade. They will be marked as green dots (like all of your targets) on the radar. Crouch down when approaching them so they don’t get frightened and shoot them with the .270 rifle. ----------------------- 1 Kudu (Tracking hunt) ----------------------- Follow the tracks and you will find the Kudu. His tracks are surrounded by the red bugs and marked with a little red spot on the map. Once you follow all his tracks, he will be revealed somewhere close to you so you will easily be able to take him down. It’s a good idea to sneak up on him. Use the .338 to take him down, it should work best. ------------------------ 4 Duikers (Regular hunt) ------------------------ Use the .243 for this hunt and listen to the tracker and guide. They will tell you where you can find the Duikers. I usually find mine to the North-East of where you start. There should be 2 of them hanging around the rocky and dry area. --------------------------- 4 Springboks (Regular hunt) --------------------------- As soon as you start, a large herd of Springboks will be stampeding to your left. Simple enough, use your scope and shoot as many as you can. You should be able to take down 4 of them in the herd. The best weapon for this hunt is also the .243. ----------------------------------- 5 Black wildebeests (Herd hunting) ----------------------------------- You will be shooting them from the back of the moving jeep. The driver will follow the large herd, all you have to do is shoot them down. You don’t even need to be precise as they are in a large bunch. As recommended by the Porter, use the .300 rifle to take them down. ------------------------- 2 Warthogs (Regular hunt) -------------------------- From where you begin, go directly South-East and you will find 2 Warthogs walking by. This is a perfect spot to sniper them from. Use a .270 for the Warthogs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------- Trophy hunt – 1 Rhino ---------------------- To find the great Rhino, sneak past the 2 regular ones at the beginning (to your left). Continue forward along the water, try not to distract any other animals. Keep heading north for a few metres then go slightly to the west. The big black Rhino should be relaxing in the shade by the water. You can’t miss him. They require a lot of fire power to kill, use a .505 rifle. The Steenbucks are small and quick so be sneaky. As soon as you start head North and you should see Steenbuck around the river or in the bushes. You can also try going South-East to find them. ----------------------- 3 Zebras (Regular hunt) ----------------------- Equip your .338 rifle and go South-East. You are sure to find Zebra’s there. They like to hang around in closed grassy areas. ------------------------------ 5 Klipspringers (Regular hunt) ------------------------------ Use the .243 rifle for this hunt. The Klipspringers shouldn’t give you too much trouble. Head South and you will find plenty of them. -------------------------------- 5 Egyptian geese (Wing shooting) -------------------------------- Just like your last wing shooting mission. Use a 12 gauge shotgun for these geese. If you have troubles then use your hunter sense mode. -------------------------- 1 Gemsbuck (Tracking hunt) -------------------------- Follow the tracks (red bugs) and you will find the Gemsbuck. Use the .338 rifle for them. ---------------------------- 5 Hartebeests (Herd hunting) ---------------------------- As normal you will be shooting them from the jeep. They move in a large herd so you can’t miss them. Use the .300 rifle. ---------------------- 3 Kudus (Regular hunt) ---------------------- The Kudus like the water and will usually be around riverbanks. You can always look for them there. Head west as soon as you start and you should find some there. They will be hiding in the bushes. The recommended rifle is the .338. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------ Trophy hunt – 1 Leopard ------------------------ The leopards are much more vicious and faster. There are many of them around and as usual you will need to find the largest trophy sized one. He is usually straight north when you start. He will be walking somewhere around the trees/rocks. Sniper him from the distance with a .375 rifle. NAMIBIA COMPLETE! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Unlockables: Namibia available in Open Safari Leopard available in Big 5 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +=--=+=--=+*+= C) BOTSWANA +=--=+=--=+*+= ----------------------------------- 5 Spur winged geese (Wing shooting) ----------------------------------- This is no different to your previous wing shooting missions. The geese are kind of easier to shoot though so this just makes your task easier. Go to the trees and shoot them as they fly out. -------------------------- 2 Ostriches (Regular hunt) -------------------------- Head southwest as soon as you start and you will and you will find 2 ostriches together over the hill. Stay a good distance away and then take the first one out. The second one may start running so chase after it if you have to. -------------------------- 1 Bushbuck (Tracking hunt) -------------------------- The bushbuck is kind of small so hunting it may be a problem for rookie hunters. Follow the tracks where the red bugs are and then it will appear on the map. Sneak up to it and take it out. If he starts running them chase after him and don’t lose him. ----------------------- 2 Zebras (Regular hunt) ----------------------- As usual, they love the closed areas which are bushy and surrounded by trees. Go northwest as soon as you start and you will eventually come to 2 Zebras. After you shoot the first one then the other will start running immediately. You might need to chase him down for a while until you get a shot on him. If you lose him then you can look for another. ------------------------- 5 Buffalos (Herd hunting) ------------------------- You will need a lot of power to take down buffalos as usual. Ask the porter for the best weapon and then start shooting at the massive herd being chased by the jeep. You should be able to get all 5. Watch out as the car will sometimes need to take alternate routes which will block your shot of the buffalos. ------------------------- 2 Leopards (Baiting hunt) ------------------------- This is no different to your other baiting hunts which you will do. Find the bait station and try to get there before the leopards do. If you do manage this, then hide somewhere near the bait until they come at which point you will have a clear shot of them. If they get there before you which is most likely, then just sneak up on them and take them out. If they see you then get ready for close range shooting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------- Trophy hunt – 1 Elephant. ------------------------- Before anything, make sure you switch to the .600 for this mission as the elephant is extremely tough to take down so you will need all the power you can get. As soon as you start, go South-East and follow the river up. When the river ends, go west and then slightly to the North. You should see an abandoned row boat sitting next to the water. Continue past the boat up the slight hill and you will find two elephants standing together, sometimes they even fight. The big dark one should be the one closest to you so get a shot from the distance. However it may not always be that way as the positions could change at anytime, if you feel you have found the big darker one somewhere else then you could try him but most times when I played this one I found it in this same spot. BOTSWANA COMPLETE! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Unlockables: Botswana in Open Safari mode Elephant available to hunt in Big 5 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +=--=+=--=+*+= D) ZIMBABWE +=--=+=--=+*+= ----------------------- 1 Baboon (Regular hunt) ----------------------- There are many baboons near the water. Check on your map for the watering hole and head there. Once you find it, you will see baboons hanging around and relaxing. Pick one out and shoot it. Pretty straight forward. You shouldn’t have too much trouble taking them down. They are not too strong. ----------------------- 1 Eland (Tracking hunt) ----------------------- Once again just look for the red flashes on the map and they will show you where the tracks are. Follow the tracks and you will find the Eland. Stay low to the ground and try not to get in his sight. Its best to sneak up on him. Once you have a clean shot, take him down. ---------------------------------- 5 Red Billed Teals (Wing shooting) ---------------------------------- Once again we have another wing shooting mission. The teals are hiding in the trees so walk forward and scare them out. They will start flying around as usual. Take down 5 of them and you’re done. Use the hunter sense for more accurate shooting. --------------------------- 3 Waterbucks (Regular hunt) --------------------------- Now this is kind of difficult seeing as you need to hunt 3 of them. Ask the porter for the appropriate rifle. The waterbucks can always be found near the grassland areas. It is very rare that you will actually find them near water. So look around the bushy and green areas and you will find them. This will be the perfect area for you to sneak from as they won’t see you clearly. -------------------------- 2 Leopards (Baiting hunt) -------------------------- You’ve hunted leopards before in the game so this is no different. The last thing you want is for them to spot you at which point they will charge at you and attack. So stay low and sneaky. When you are far from them then you don’t need to really sneak, just try to zoom in and shoot them. The tracker will tell you were the bait station has been set up. You can also check your map as it will be marked with a red flashing dot on it. When you get there, the leopards will be viciously eating their bait. As soon as you shoot one of them, the other one is likely to see you and attack so be ready. ----------------------- 4 Sables (Regular hunt) ----------------------- Head straight in south direction as soon as you begin and you will find a sable there. Try not to distract all the other animals around you and take down the single sable. Once you do, head south again and finding them will be an easy task. They will usually be around the shady and bushy areas relaxing so try there. ---------------------------- 5 Springbooks (Herd Hunting) ---------------------------- From the back of the jeep, you are to shoot 5 springbooks. They are fairly big so it shouldn’t be too hard to shoot them. Use a little more power for them (ask the porter). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------- Trophy hunt – 3 Cape Buffalos. ------------------------------- This is probably the hardest of all trophy hunts. You must find the three unique Buffalos and take them down. As soon as you start, make sure you equip a high power rifle (ask the Porter which one to use) and head west. Try to sneak behind or through the middle of the 2 Leopards drinking at the waterhole. Once you pass them, keep going straight a little while and then turn south. Be careful of the other 2 Leopards hanging around nearby. You should now be at another river. Go into the river and start crouching. You should see a big rock somewhere in the river. There are two Buffalos right around the corner to your left. One of them is one of the 3 big Buffalos. Use your scope to zoom in and spot out and take down the darker and bigger Buffalo. Another big trophy Buffalo should be to your west. Go west and then slightly south and you should find another dark Buffalo. Take him down as usual. Now the last one can usually be found nearby, if not then go north and look for him. If they are too fast for you then switch on your Hunter Sense so you can aim easier. Shoot 5 of the ducks. -------------------------- 2 Cheetahs (Regular hunt) -------------------------- There is one Cheetah directly to your east as soon as you start the hunt. He should be easy to take down as it is an open area and you can sniper him clearly. After you take the first one down, go south and you are sure to find much more Cheetahs there. Crouch down, take cover and move slowly as the Cheetah could spot you easily and will attack you. ----------------------- 3 Hyenas (Baiting hunt) ------------------------ Go North as soon as you begin and hurry to the bait station which is located far to the North. It will be marked with a red flash on the map if you can’t find it. The Hyenas will be there aggressively feeding on a dead animal. Try to find a good position to sniper them from. If they see you then your best option is to abort the aiming technique and shoot them freely when they come to attack you. It is best to use the .300 for this hunt. ----------------------- 1 Nyala (Tracking hunt) ----------------------- Follow the red bugs and they will lead you into the direction of the Nyala. All the tracks are marked with red flashes on the map. You must cover all the tracks and then the Nyala will be shown on the map ready for you to take down. ---------------------------- 2 Red Duikers (Regular hunt) ---------------------------- There are numerous Duikers to the South east as soon as you start. Use your .243 rifle to take down. They are fairly small so you need to be quick and stealthy, and most importantly somewhat accurate. -------------------------- 3 Reedbucks (Regular hunt) -------------------------- There are many Reedbucks to the South east of you. You can’t miss them. Use your .270 rifle and hunt them down. -------------------- 5 Zebras (Herd hunt) -------------------- Pretty straight forward again. The car is slightly further from the Zebras so you need to be accurate and shoot at every clean opportunity you get. The .338 rifle will be best for this hunt. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------- Trophy hunt – 2 Lions ---------------------- This one can be kind of difficult as well. You will be surrounded by Lions everywhere. They will charge at you whenever they see you so stay low and don’t get too close. As soon as you begin, go north and then slightly to the east. Right over the little hill will be a lion walking by the river around the trees. He is your first Trophy lion so get a clean shot and take him out. To find the next one, he will either be to the north or south. You will have to find him yourself. An alternate way is to not kill the first lion but instead just wait around and keep an eye on him. Sometimes after a while the other Trophy lion will find him and they will start fighting. This will be a perfect opportunity to take them both out, but be quick and precise in your shots. You will find them usually around bushy areas hiding. They can also be found at water sources as they come to drink. -Duiker- This is the little guy you feel sorry for. The Duiker is the main prey of most African animals. They can be very difficult to hunt as they are one of the smallest and quickest animals around. They are known for their short and pointy horns. -Eland- Even though they are fairly big and bulky and ‘armed’ with large horns, they still tend to run at the sight of humans and other animals. Their horns are in a twisted shape and they can be found at some open areas and water holes. -Gemsbuck- This is the little guy with long horns. Your main clue when hunting for them is that they can go for long periods of time without water so you will be able to find them in dry and open areas. -Hartebeest- These guys are pretty big. You can find them in the grassy areas around Africa. They also can run fairly fast so be ready for a good chase if he spots you. -Impala- They are almost always (if not with their herd) at water sources as they constantly need to drink. They can get difficult to shoot while they are running as they tend to constantly jump around. -Klipspringer- They are also somewhat hard to hunt as they scare easily and are very fast and secure. They also carry little horns. -Lechwe- You will mostly find them at water areas. They are kind of rare in Africa so only a few of them are found in the regions you hunt for them. Basically just look around water areas to find them, they carry long and thin horns. -Reedbuck- You find these in the wetland regions. They will be hanging around the wet and long grass areas, usually hiding. -Sable- You can usually find them around the tree areas just eating grass. Apparently they are dangerous fighters to anyone because of their horns. -Springbok- Really, he’s exactly the same as most of the other scared animals. You can find him where you find trees and water areas. -Steenbuck- A good thing about this guy is that he hides a lot and doesn’t run. Unfortunately for them, they can always be spotted on your map so hiding is no good. They will be hiding in bushy areas and only run when you absolutely approach them closely and start shooting. -Waterbuck- To find him, just go to the grassland areas. When running, he will usually go towards water areas as he is good at running in water. ----------- Big Game ----------- -Baboon– Not really big game to me but they can still be pretty vicious. They will occasionally let out a loud scream so this is something to listen out for when hunting them down. Besides that, you will always find baboons at water areas. They like to come there to relax a little, a perfect position for you to shoot them from. -Cape Buffalo- These things show absolutely no remorse when you come near them. They are powerful and quick and can kill you in just a few simple tackles. They also occasionally enjoy watering holes and are very difficult to take down. -Cheetah- Very fast, aggressive and dangerous; the cheetah will attack anything it wants. Really, it’s not a good idea to get too close. Although, sometimes when they know you have a gun and can’t be beaten they will begin to run away. This is even more difficult because of their speed. They will usually be around open areas, sometimes even water. -Elephant- Well I didn’t even know that elephants attack but apparently they do. They seem to be one of the most dangerous animals to mess with. They are without a doubt the hardest animal to take down and require the most powerful rifle to do so. You can find them resting in grassy areas near water. They easily kill you in one quick attack so be cautious wherever you go. -Lion- One of my favourite animals to hunt, the lion is always around relaxing at open areas or walking around water places. They are also fairly fast and can easily kill you. They charge at you very fiercely. -Zebra- Always found at grass areas eating. They won’t really attack you so don’t be too scared. They will run as soon as they see you so be quick. We all know what one of these look like, simply a black animal with white stripes. Or is it white with black stripes? ------- Birds ------- -Ostrich- They can run incredibly fast when in danger and will do so to escape to safety whenever they need to. They will usually be walking around together in open areas. Their long neck is so cute, but you never do get the chance to shoot them legally. *Other birds include: -Barred Cuckoo -Cardinal woodpecker -Egyptian goose -Greater Flamingo -Red billed teal -Royal albatross -Spur-winged geese -Turtle dove -White Pelican -Yellow billed duck -------------- Other Animals -------------- -African wild dog- Pretty much the same as your everyday dog except more vicious. They will always attack you as soon as they see you. They even travel in a pack sometimes which is nothing but trouble. -Chimpanzee- Pretty much the same as a baboon. What more can I say? -Gorilla- For some reason you don’t get to hunt one of these apes but you can easily find them around Africa. We all know them as strong animals but as soon as they saw me they ran away. -Giraffe- One of the biggest animals ever, still scared though. They will run if you come anywhere near them. Their long necks let you spot them easily, doesn’t mean anything though as you don’t get to hunt these either. Well you can if you want to but you will be told off by the crew and if you keep doing it then they will end the hunt. -Hyena- Similar to the African wild dog but they seem a little more dangerous to me. They like to relax a lot around open and closed areas of the Africa. These beasts will eat anything, even their own kind! They also like to feed of injured or dead animals so they are easy to find. They will attack you if they spot you so be alert. -Warthog- They like to walk around in open areas together. They will also attack you and quite brutally as well. /*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ |9. WEAPONS \*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ The different types of firearms available are rifles, shotguns and handguns. Though there are also scopes available for each weapon as well. Here is a list of each weapon in the game. They differ from weight to powerfulness etc in ascending order. -------- Rifles -------- -.243 – Ideal for antelope, this rifle has great accuracy and mediocre recoil. This is best for beginner hunters. Not as much power in it though. -.270 – Some antelopes are bigger and stronger, which is why you have this all action rifle available. It is pretty light and has good accuracy. For such a small rifle, the long range is great. -.300 – Used for somewhat bigger animals. This is similar to the previous one, but has more of a recoil. -.338 – Though this is a much heavier rifle, it is essential when hunting big game or larger sized antelope. -.375 – Mostly used for animals which are frightened easily because of its unique features. It is good in power. -.416 – Most often used on big game, this rifle can take down most large animals in just a couple of shots. -.505 – This is ideal for Rhino and most other big game strong animals. Its power is outstanding and will take down animals with ease. -.600 – Bought to you just for your benefit, this rifle is used to hunt elephants that can take quite a few shots and still survive. This all power rifle will take it down effectively. ---------- Shotguns ---------- -12 GA - The most common and best shotgun for hunting birds is this one. It can also reach somewhat further range so this should be a very essential weapon for you. -410 O/U - A much less quality shotgun, this is mostly for beginners because of its lightweight and ease to handle. --------- Handguns --------- -.500 Magnum – One of the largest ever handguns, this is packed with a load of power and can be used to take down most big game safari animals -.454 Magnum – Always good to have this one ready for anything as it can really prove useful when attacked by smaller animals. The accuracy is kind of poor from even close range so be aware of what can happen. -.44 Magnum – This is kind of useless when hunting most animals. The power and accuracy is a little dodgy and you could have trouble just getting a proper shot on an animal. If anything, this should be used when hunting harmless birds, nothing else. /*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+*=+ |10.
