------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dungeon Quest (Facebook / Mobile ) FAQ v1.1 (c) 2009 A. Thomas Tran // unity303 Updated 2009-12-03 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PRELUDE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Being the geek I am, I had a ton of questions playing this game. Which quests drop which items? What are the best quests to level with? And how the *#&$ do the weapons and items work in fights? I wrote this FAQ in an attempt to share the answers I found while playing this lightweight, yet fun and addictive game. Here's what I go over: [1] STARTING YOUR CHARACTER - Selecting a class [2] QUESTS - Gold, XP, Loot [3] FIGHTS - More XP, How weapons/armor/veh/party# affects ATT/DEF [4] LEVELING - Where do I put my Skill points? [5] LIST OF WEAPONS - Attack heavy items [6] LIST OF ARMORS - Defense heavy items [7] LIST OF VEHICLES - ATT/DEF items that cost an hourly rental price [8] LIST OF LANDS - Offset the vehicle upkeep price & get positive income [9] LIST OF QUESTS - Cuz you hate clicking on Quest INFO to see quest stats [10] LIST OF QUEST IDS - For expanding your party [11] THANK YOUS - A winner is you [12] ABOUT ME ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [1] STARTING YOUR CHARACTER - Selecting A Class ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you start out, you must choose your class. The only way to change class is to restart your character, so you better choose wisely unless you're just getting a feel for things and plan to reset your character later after you figure out what works best for ya. Here are tips to help you choose among the 4 classes. The classes are: 1) Mercenary - Faster Money Regen 2) Barbarian - Faster Strength Regen 3) Fighter - Faster Health Regen 4) Warrior - Faster Stamina Regen Normally, your character regenerates 1 point of Strength/Stam/Health in 5 minutes. But if you specialize in one of these, it only takes 4 minutes. For Mercenaries (money regen), these classes enjoy 56 minute income cycles instead of 60 minutes per income cycle (see Lands for more info on incomes). There are arguments you can make for each of these classes, but I believe there are certainly classes better than others depending on your goals. Easily, the most advantageous for XP gain is Barbarians (Strength regen) and Warriors (Stamina regen). Here's why. STR & STAM can be directly converted into XP and thereby these stat regens help you level up faster (health does not weigh into fights as much as STR, and health can be purchased from the Oracle anyway, money does not offer any such direct conversion into XP). But between STR and STAM, which is better for leveling? Though it really depends how you like to level up, Barbarians are mathematically the best class for XP'ing. 1 point of STR in a fight weighs far more than 1 point of STAM in a quest. When fighting, each point of STR gives anywhere from 2-40 XP points per STR. However, when questing, each point of STAM gives only 1-2 XP per STAM. For example, at level 51, one successful fight gives ~30 XP. However, at level 51 (the highest possible quest bracket at time of writing), the quest "Slay The Wizard" requires 100 STAM to get 170 XP. Do the math and this means each STAM equates to a puny 1.7 XP per 1 point of STAM, vs the 30 XP per 1 point of STR. Moreover, it takes tons of STAM, 60-100, to do a quest at later levels -- which makes a single point of STAM essentially futile. By this reason, Barbarians have the greatest advantage of XP'ing faster because XP per STR weighs far more than XP per STAM. Even tough there benefits of STAM (using STAM for quests results in the primary source of gold for any character), this argument gets considerably weak as, again, you notice that your quests take 30 STAM each. Suddenly 1 point of STAM suddenly doesn't taste as good. So yea, for XP'ing STR is the way to go. I would follow this advice if I just want to level up and I'm playing every hour, but interestingly enough I have thought about advantages other than XP'ing as fast as I possibly can. =P Consider what happens when you are away from the game. When you are away from the keyboard (AFK), then once you regen to full STR or STAM or HEALTH, you *max out* and stop regenerating points, i.e. when you hit 15/15 STR you can't gain additional STR. And what happens when you cap out? Nothing. You don't get anything at all. Your character just sits there. No additional XP. However, for gold, *there is no maximum amount* to gold you can keep -- what happens if you're a mercenary? More gold each day. Specifically, at the end of each day, my character generates 514mil gold instead of 480mil gold. (20mil income per cycle). 24mil more gold every day is pretty sweet compared to a stat that does you *nothing* each day that you're AFK. And I don't know about you but I like being resourceful and economical and I don't like the idea of any regen going to waste -- which is what happens with all other point regens if you are AFK for the day. Sure if you're playing all the time and that single point of STR means the difference between leveling up or not, it means a lot, but for the reasons I've noted above, I feel that being Mercenaries are less wasteful as you're AFK. In addition to this argument for Mercenaries, my goals of my character are actually different from simply XP'ing fast. Call me crazy, but my goal was to create a character that generates tons of gold to *give out* to people. Yes, wtf indeed. Anyone that fights me and wins will get 25mil-75mil gold (I'm on the top 10 at level 146+, I'm "Anthomas GivesGold" fight me if you want gold, and I don't care if you kill me). I never bank my money so I'm spreading the love and giving out tons of gold for those who can win a fight against me. I believe in karma and it's my way of sharing the wealth. :) For these reasons, I decided being a mercenary is what I wanted to be. Not a barbarian, not a warrior, not a mighty pirate (j/k, of course there are no pirates in this game, this is a Monkey Island throwback. Actually if anyone from Moblying is reading this, how about renaming the mercenary class to pirates, it just sounds sexier and cooler heheh). Anyway I decided that being a Mercenary works with my goals of karma (gold-giving) and with my philosophy of NOT capping out while AFK. Also my argument for Fighters is that Health regen is good for people who like being constantly attacked while AFK and think they can win more fights. But I feel this doesn't have viable/direct calculable advantages as STAM and STR do for gold and XP, and additionally health has has the same cap-out value as STAM and STR (where gold regen does not), so I feel this is the weakest class overall. And when you're not AFK, what's the point if you can just go to the Oracle and pay gold for full Health recovery? (If anyone wants to make a good argument, e-mail me and if I like what I hear, I'll be glad to include this in the FAQ and I'll credit you. :) See my email at the end.) All in all, I'm sure you can build arguments for each class but these are the main points I wanted to address to help people decide what class works best for your goals. So my final thoughts on each: 1) Mercenaries are good for feeling like you're not wasting resources (me!) 2) Barbarians are mathematically best for XP'ing 3) Warriors are good for those constantly questing 4) Fighters are useless because the Oracle offers health recovery (only a poor sucker would choose this class! are you a sucker!?) Geez, ok I didn't think that section would be so long. Covered a ton of common ground tho, so it means a lot of future topics will refer back to here, so I don't need to repeat myself later in this FAQ. Alright, let's talk about grinding for XP - Questing and Fighting! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [2] QUESTING - Attaining Gold, XP, and Loot ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are two ways to gain XP in this game. Fighting and Questing. This section covers the ins/outs of Quests. In a quest, you use up some Stamina to win (1) XP (2) Gold and (3) Loot. Quests have a party requirement (i.e. you may need 30 people in your party) and often have a item requirement (i.e. you must have a Small Axe in order to perform "Help A Wizard" @ level 1). The best thing about Quests are that they offer substantial amount of gold, consistently, relative to your level. You might lose a fight but you always win quests. And even though you can get gold from fighting, I have found that fighting almost always results in nearly 0 gold, because everyone banks their gold before they go AFK (usually). And when you get to around level 40+, all the quests give gold in the order of millions. "Blind the Cyclops" offers 1.8mil gold at level 34-44. By the time you get to level 50+, you'll have so much gold you won't know what to do with it. Can't say the same about Fighting. In rare exceptions, fight give lots of gold when you win, in fact, as much as 75mil. Want to know who you should fight against? Read FIGHTS section for more info. In regards to leveling -- initially, Quests are a great way to level up, notably because it only takes a few quests to level up. But you'll immediately notice at level 3+ that it takes more than one cycle of quests to level up. (Each cycle equals 1 round of using up your STAM to 0, then Recharging at the Oracle or recharging free by leveling.) You will soon notice it takes a few Quest cycles to level up again, then it takes ten cycles, then 100, then before you know it, Questing for XP levels has slowed to a crawl that it's practically impossible to level. It soon becomes evident that you can easily finish off your leveling by Fighting and using your Strength points. The advantages to STR are outlined in the previous section, but again, I'll point it out here. Each point of STR gets you more XP than each point of STAM. Specifically Quests give *maximum* ~2 XP per STAM, while Fights consistently gives 4-30 XP per STR. So on one cycle of 10 STR, you can get 40-300 XP. However on one cycle of 10 STAM, you can get only maximum 20 XP. Consequentially Quests offer a poor source of XP. However, the best thing about Quests other than oodles of gold is that they may drop loot too (see [2] QUESTING section for which Quests drop loot). A couple of items cannot be purchased and *only* are available via loot, i.e. Orb of Health armor. But aside from the gold value of loot, sometimes Quests may drop items which have gem value. For me, this is another crucial benefit of Questing -- you can get Gems. Even level 2 quests can drop gem items, i.e. Daggers and Ten Foot Poles (1 gem each). When you get to level 3, quests can drop a Goblin Orb (sell it for 2 gems) or Crossbows (sell for 2 gems). Therefore, in a Quest cycle, you find that you get one or more of these 2gem+ items . And since it only takes 2 gems to Recharge your STAM at the Oracle, you now you have a way to Quest for loot for an immediate additional cycle, or more. Now it's totally possible that in a Quest cycle you end up with 0 gem items, and you have to wait a day for your stamina to replenish, but I have found that if you just do easy level 3 quests (Loot Goblin Caverns @ 5 STAM per Quest) you can usually end up with at least 1 item that will sell for 2 gems (Goblin Orb). And when you get to level 20, quests can drop items which you can sell for 5 gems, for 2 more cycles. At level 40, quests drop items like War Hammers that sell for 7 gems, enough for 3 more cycles. For me, I now have enough gems to endlessly cycle for quests, and this is now my source of XP'ing for levels (I can't believe I'm revealing my secret to my success, but blah!). This is the exception to the rule where now Questing for XP'ing becomes totally justified -- I am now infinitely Questing as I have 1,000+ gems and in each cycle of Quests I only need to use up 2 of those gems to recharge for another round of Questing. So selling gems is my secret to unlimited Questing for XP. I don't have to wait for a recharge because I have an infinite source of gems. NOTE: I did receive an email where someone said they could not sell gems -- I believe they were probably playing on the iPhone or some other platform other than facebook where Moblying has not enabled the feature of selling gem items for this platform. And if this is your the case, just link up your facebook account to your phone's and you'll be able to sell those items. So what items get dropped at for which quests? When you do a quest, I figured out how it works, basically the items dropped for a quest corresponds directly to the quest level. For example, if you perform a quest available for levels 3-8, you will only receive items of weapon/armor level 3-8 (i.e. you would *never* receive a level 9-15 Elven Cloak for that quest.) Likewise, if you are performing a level 47 quest, you can only get items of weapon/armor level 45-50 (you would never get a level 9-15 Mace.) See the weapons/armor tables below for which items are in which class level, then match it up to the Quest level to see what you might get. I'm sure you've noticed that some quests consumes items. For these quests, I've noted how much these quests "cost" in gold/gems in the [2] QUESTING section, so that you can correctly determine whether the quest is worth it. First off, there quests which consume gem items are a huge red flag. DO NOT PERFORM THESE UNLESS YOU ARE COOL WITH BUYING TONS OF GEMS FROM MOBLYING. i.e "Blind the Cyclops" at level 34-44 *seems* awesome because it drops 1.8mil gold, but when you factor in the consumables -- Ring of Earth (13 gems) and War Hammer (13 gems) -- clearly it's not worth the 26 gems it costs to purchase these items in order to do this quest. Because for those 26 gems, you could do 13 more cycles of Quests. Also there are some quests like "Assault Pirate Fort" @ Level 45-50 which seem to give 6.2mil gold. But since it consumes a Dwarven Gyrocopter (3.5mil gold) really in the end, "Assault Pirate Fort" ends up netting you 3.5mil gold, not 6.2mil gold. Then compare with with a Quest that takes up the same STAM points, i.e. "Fight a Fire Demon" @ the same Level 45-50 and you'll notice that it gives 6.9mil gold without consuming *ANY* items. Twice as much gold, same amount of STAM. Better Quest. So the key to success in Questing for XP is actually by Questing for gems, recharging, Questing for more gems, repeating. Again, this is my source of XP'ing now. I'm gonna kick myself in the ass for sharing my secret, but oh well. :) Now that my infinite formula is out, I expect everyone else is just going to knock me out of the top 10 laddder (it was fun while it lasted!!). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [3] FIGHTS - More XP, How weapons/armor/veh/party# affects ATT/DEF ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fighting gives you XP, gives you gold, decreases your HP, and sometimes (though extremely rarely) gives you drops (drop items are unpredictable as well). Since most people bank their gold before fighting, I often get 0 gold, and the average amount of gold received is 5-20k depending on how much the enemy has. If you win a fight and your opponent has gold, you collect 10% of what they have, though there is a cap of gold you can fight for -- 75mil is the most gold you can get from a fight, as far as I know. There are actually a good handful of people out there that forget to bank and give a decent amount of gold, say 50k to 750k. They're rare but they exist. It is worthwhile to go fighting different people until you find someone that gives a lot of gold, but enjoy it while it lasts because your opponent will only survive a few attacks before you can't fight them anymore (they're dead, 0 health, 0 STR). And if you come back the next day to attack the same guy (given that your or they have not leveled up), then there's no guarantee they'll forget to bank again. As mentioned before, I have provided a friendly opponent that you can fight to receive lots of gold. I'm giving out 75mil to any opponent who can defeat me in battle, my username is "Anthomas GivesGold" and I'm on the top 10 player list. If you think I'm crazy, my insanity is explained in [1] STARTING YOUR CHARACTER. When initially leveling up with my first character, I always wish I had some opponent that I could fight that always consistently gave me $#&$loads of gold. So this is me hoping to help out a like-minded acquaintance in need. In short, it's my way of feeding positive karma into the Dungeon Quest world. Back to the point though, the biggest question of the game is how party size and items factor into a Fight. Why is it that sometimes your 2 person party can be annihalated by a 10 person party? Why is it sometimes your level 20 character can kick a level 140 guy's butt? What's going on here? Ok. The way weapons/armor work in a fight is highly unintuitive. But it is ridiculously simple. Rule #1: Each member in your party equips 1 weapon, 1 armor, and 1 vehicle. That's it. So if you have 10 people in your party, even if you have 10 Hammers plus 10 Rings of Fire, each party member doesn't get to equip both weapons. Don't ask me why this is so -- I am pretty #*&$'ing sure I can wear a friggin ring and wield a hammer at the same time. Anyway because of this same rule, if you have 1000 Sceptres of Power, and you have a party of 75, then 925 of those Sceptres will remain unused. Rule #2: The best weapon/armor/vehicle will be equipped first. So with a party of 40, if you have 200 crossbows and 10 scythes, your party will use up the 10 (higher attack) scythes first, then the remaining 30 party members equip the crossbows. Rule #3: Attack and defense are calculated by adding up these stats per item for each party member. So if your party of 20 is using 20 Axes (30/5), you can compute that your party has a total of 20x30 attack / 20x5 defense = 600/100 ATT/DEF. And if you attack a huge party of 90 who only has 90 Daggers (x 5/1 = 450/90 ATT/DEF), your party (600/100) will still whoop those 90 dagger pushovers (450/90) every time. Do the same for Armors and Vehicles and you will sum up your total ATT/DEF in a fight. So with these 3 rules, you can see why an additional single party member can be such a critical factor in defeating your opponent, as long as each member in your party is equipped. So when you get in fights, it doesn't matter what items that your party friends have equipped, it only matters what you have in your inventory. That being said, it is clear why the greatest factor to winning a battle ends up being the Party #, because this number allows the greatest *potential* of highest ATT/DEF for your party. Achieving that potential is simply a matter of providing the best equipment possible that you can afford. Keep adding party members and equip them well, and you will win more fights. For party invitations, there are lists all over on people you can add to your party. For your convenience, I've added one in the end of this FAQ with 500 quest IDs. Also when buying items, don't be lazy about calculations -- don't just buy the expensive items because they are stronger. Let's say you have 200k gold. You want to buy 10 Lances for total 340/50 ATT/DEF. But instead you're thinking about buying the best weapons you can for 200k gold -- So you buy two Pikes at 90k each gold. So how much attack power do you have for your party? 2 Pikes x 62/9 = 124/18 ATT/DEF. Well the 10 Lances x 34/50 = 340/50 ATT/DEF. The lances will obliterate the pikes. Every time. Lances 340/50 > Pikes 128x18. Buy smart! Be a man! Do the right thing! There is a point in fighting where sometimes there are characters that seem to have infinite HP. Such characters have Lord of the Ring worthy RPG names like Wind Wanderer, Tarot Nemesiscaster, Rainier Wolfcastle :), and you can attack them endlessly without killing them. It's not a mystery - these are just AI bots in the game that Moblying programmed so that players always are available to fight against when all other users have no Health/STR to refight. These are a fantastic way to XP up since they don't die and give consistent gold. Some give more gold than others, some give up to 18K gold (keep fishing around till you find the guy that gives you 18K). Bots are easily the best way to rack up on XP per fight, since you can always count of them. Fight fight fight fight Oracle-HealHP, fight fight fight, rinse, lather repeat. Bots are always incredibly weak opponents too, even when I had a party of 40, I was still decimating bots that had a party of 100+. In fact, as a test, I sold all my weaopns, all my armor, all my vehicles to see what would happen when fighting these guys, and *I STILL WON*. I don't know how the heck Moblying equips these guys, but hey who cares as long as we're winning. And there is nothing more annoying than attacking a person and them instantly dying and you end up having to just find someone else to attack, right? So this is an easy win, a nice way to XP, and I ain't complaining. Somehow the calculations for fighting against Bots is entirely different from fighting with non-bots. And when (in my zero- armor, zero-weapon, zero-vehicle state) I attacked a normal guy (non-bot) and I got absolutely crushed, died in one sigle hit. Lastly, one of the main things about fighting is that they often occur when you are AFK. And since other people can attack you while you're AFK, make sure you bank your $ if you want to retain it. Otherwise each attach loses you 10% of your gold at-hand. So bank before you retire for the day! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [4] LEVELING - Where do I put my Skill Pts? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As each level up, you're offered 5 more skill points that you can improve for your (1) Health Max, (2) Attack/Defense Points, (3) Stamina Max, (4) Strength Max. 1) Health Points - this is a bad investment because 1) you gain free health points upon leveling anyway, and 2) health can be easily recovered at the Oracle with a pocketful of gold, so spending precious Skill Pts on health is both redundant and unnecessary. Some have made arguments that having more health when AFK is beneficial for fighting more battles, but being attacked is not a realistic source of XP'ing and gaining gold. You just can't count on being attacked. You can put skill into your health if that's what you want. You can also live dangerously and hit on 21. Wouldn't recommend it though. 2) Attack/Defense Points - since 5 additional attack/defense is miniscule in comparison to upgrading a single Weapon or Armor, adding to ATT/DEF is not recommended. Instead, add 1 party member and buy a 400gold Sword and now you have already added 6/1 ATT/DEF (you've exceeded the 5 ATTACK you pumped in from your 5 skill points. Minding this, ATT/DEF improvements to your character are negligible. In fact, others on forums have mentioned the whole idea that ATT/DEF in your character stats is absolutely useless and broken. I say Moblying just take the darn stat out and stop the confusion, because every person gets confused about this stat. There's no reason for it being in the Character stat. If I have had misinformation or somehow Moblying updates these stats to change the game, please inform me and I'll update this FAQ. 3) Stamina Points - Excellent for attaining gold, and also and XP endlessly via gem mining. Because gold is an essential part of being a good Dungeon Quest character, I think a good recommendation is to at least be able to perform 1 of the highest Quest at the level you're currently at. Or even 2x the highest Quest stam requirement. This gives you the chance to get a good amount of gold for buying other things. Stam is the best way to gain gold and gem items. 4) Strength Points - This is the best choice for those who want to XP fast (which is pretty much everyone). One round of 100 STR cycle offers at least 4000 XP, but one round of 100 STAM cycle offers at maximum 200 XP only. That's a butt-kicking 20x difference in XP. More detail about this in the section [1] STARTING YOUR CHARACTER above. My kind suggestions for balanced gameplay: 1) No health 2) No ATT/DEF 3) Add as much stam as required for 1-2 highest quest in a cycle. (i.e. if the highest quest costs 60 STAM, a character with 120 STAM is good) 4) Add all the rest of your skill points to STR. Experiment around and see what you like, and if you have new insights I haven't provided definitely let me know. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [5] LIST OF WEAPONS - Attack heavy items ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LEVEL WEAPON ATT DEF GEMS GOLD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1-2 Small Axe 3 0 100 1-2 Bow & Arrow 4 0 200 1-2 Dagger 5 1 1 1-2 Sword 6 1 400 1-2 Small Trident 7 1 500 1-2 Ten Foot Pole 8 2 1 3-8 Crossbow 10 1 3 3-8 Morning Star 11 1 1,000 3-8 Large Trident 12 2 1,500 3-8 Goblin Orb 13 2 3 9-15 Magic Wand 20 2 2,500 9-15 Board with Nail 21 2 3,250 9-15 Flail 22 3 4,000 9-15 Long Sword 23 3 4,750 9-15 Mace 24 3 5,500 9-15 Scimitar 25 3 6,250 9-15 Short Crossbow 26 3 7,000 9-15 Spiked Mace 27 4 7,750 9-15 Goblin Sword 28 5 5 16-24 Axe 30 5 10,000 16-24 Hammer 32 5 15,000 16-24 Lance 34 5 20,000 16-24 Longbow 36 6 10 16-24 Man-catcher 38 6 10 16-24 Short Sword 40 7 35,000 16-24 Familiar Spirit 42 9 (Loot only) 25-33 Blowgun 50 7 50,000 25-33 Disinetgration Wand 53 7 60,000 25-33 Dwarven Crossbow 56 8 70,000 25-33 Two-Handed Sword 59 8 12 25-33 Pike 62 9 90,000 25-33 Orb of Fire 65 11 (Loot only) 34-44 Brass Knuckles 70 9 13 34-44 Repeating Crossbow 73 9 120,000 34-44 Flaming Mace 76 10 140,000 34-44 Scythe 79 10 13 34-44 War Hammer 82 11 13 34-44 Dirk 85 11 200,000 34-44 Orb of Suffering 88 15 (Loot only) 45-50 Enchanted Bow 100 12 500,000 45-50 Glowing Dagger 105 13 15 45-50 Ice Sword 110 14 900,000 45-50 Ring of Fire 115 14 15 45-50 Ring of Water 120 15 1,300,000 45-50 Void Flail 125 16 15 45-50 Chain 130 17 15 45-50 Polearm 135 18 15 51+ Sceptre of Power 200 20 20 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [6] LIST OF ARMORS - Defense heavy items ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LEVEL ARMOR ATT DEF GEMS GOLD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1-2 Boots 2 1 600 1-2 Wool Cloak 2 2 700 3-8 Buckler 3 6 2,000 3-8 Horned Crown 3 7 3 9-15 Elven Robe 6 11 8,500 9-15 Tower Shield 6 12 9,250 9-15 Chainmail Bikini 7 13 5 16-24 Magic Robe 8 23 40,000 25-33 Dwarven Plate Armor 13 35 100,000 25-33 Magic Cloak 14 37 12 25-33 Magic Sensing Apparatus 16 39 (Loot only) 25-33 Dwarven Plate Armor 18 45 220,000 34-44 Elven Chainmail 18 47 240,000 34-44 Plate Armor 19 49 13 34-44 Ring of Earth 19 51 13 34-44 Ring of Healing 20 53 300,000 45-50 Bracers 28 60 15 45-50 Chain Mail 29 64 2,300,000 45-50 Magic Armor 30 68 2,500,000 45-50 Pauldrons 31 72 2,700,000 45-50 Ring of Air 32 76 15 45-50 Ring of Protection 33 80 15 45-50 Orb of Health 40 84 (Loot only) 51+ Manticore Cloak 42 100 20 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [7] LIST OF VEHICLES - ATT/DEF items that cost an hourly rental price ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Each vehicle costs some gold to upkeep. That means every hour, the cost of upkeep is subtracted from your total gold. If you have 0 gold in hand, it steals from your bank money. Then if you have no bank money, you end with negative gold. The nice thing about negative gold is that all you have to do to turn it positive is to go through a single battle/quest. Whether it's -5 or -5 million, one battle will result in 0 gold after. Even if you lose the battle. I just tried it and lost a fight, had -5mil gold, and now I have 0 gold. So you can own 300 Giant Grasshoppers if you don't care about having negative gold. -90,000mil gold is basically 0 gold anyway. On the other hand, if you're like most people then you like the idea of positive income. Buying lands lets you have a positive income to offset the negative upkeep (more on this in [8] LIST OF LANDS). But say you have a positive income after buying a few lands. It's not hard to crunch numbers to figure out what you can afford. e.g. If you have a party of 75, and you get +4,000,000 income from your lands, that means you can afford 4mil/75 = 53,000 income per party member. Consult the vehicle chart below and you know that you can stock up on 75 Dwarven Gyrocopters @ 49k gold each, leaving you with a little positive income trickling in (+325k gold). Since you have the extra bit of gold, you could use it to upgrade a few of your vehicles (to Giant Grasshoppers) to fully maximize your mounts. The math for each upgrade from gyrocopter to grasshopper is only +4/4 ATT/DEF, but if you're in the double or triple digits, that will have a decent affect on your fighting stats. When buying vehicles, make sure you fill every last vehicle slot, even if it's just with carriages or horses (if that's all you can afford right now). Each vehicle slot is a precious stat of ATT/DEF that goes to waste if you don't take advantage of it. Buy a carriage, a horse, just don't leave a vehicle slot empty. One might justify leaving a slot empty in order to maintain higher upkeep vehicles, say Elephants (54/36) vs Air Elementals (85/58), because it's massive ATT/DEF advantage that the air elemental offers (each air elemental gives +31/22 ATT/DEF). But if you can only afford ~100 Elephants (5400/3600), that means you can only afford ~50 Air Elementals (4250/2900) since they cost twice as much upkeep, thusly you're better off with the 100 Elephants vs the 50 Air Elementals. Consequently, fill each slot and you'll get mathematically superior results. Alright here's the list of vehicles. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LEVEL VEHICLES UPKEEP ATT DEF GEMS GOLD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1-2 Horse 10 5 4 800 3-8 Carriage 100 7 5 2,500 9-15 War Cart 250 15 10 5 9-15 Tiger 350 16 11 10,750 16-24 Magic Carpet 500 22 18 10 16-24 Palanquin 700 23 20 50,000 16-24 Rickshaw 900 24 20 55,000 25-33 Black Staillion 1,000 36 24 120,000 25-33 Griffon 1,500 37 26 130,000 25-33 Sailing Ship 2,000 38 26 12 34-44 Armored Horse 15,000 52 34 320,000 34-44 Dragon 18,000 53 34 13 34-44 Elephant 21,000 54 36 360,000 34-44 Pegasus 24,000 56 36 13 45-50 Air Elemental 40,000 85 58 3,300,000 45-50 Dwarven Gyrocopter 49,000 88 60 3,500,000 45-50 Enthralled Giant 58,000 90 62 15 45-50 Giant Grasshopper 67,000 92 64 3,900,000 45-50 Giant Toad 76,000 95 66 15 45-50 Unicorn 85,000 98 68 15 51+ Boat of the Death Gods 100,000 110 60 52,000,000 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [8] LIST OF LANDS - Offset the vehicle upkeep price & get positive income ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lands provide you gold income at every hour. It's the only way to offset the money you lose in the hourly upkeep of vehicles. Easy peasy right? Not exactly, there's this thing about their costs that change when you buy a second one. So some wiseguy at Moblying wanted to make our lives difficult and applied the laws of supply and demand for the price of land. The price of lands increases substantially with each purchase. For example, a field initially costs 1,000 gold. But after you buy 1, the 2nd field costs 1,400 gold. And the 3rd field costs 1,800. However if you buy 10 at a time, you will get 10 at the price of the 1st field, i.e. 1,000 gold each. For this reason, you benefit from the best value if you purchase lands in lots of 10. So don't buy 20 of anything until you have capped out at 10 of everything else. Lands not only offer you a way to balance out your vehicle upkeep but you can also have positive hourly income by collecting enough land. By the time you're level 50 you will probably have enough land to generate 10mil hourly. Note that there are some lands only available on facebook, some lands only available on mobile. This list pertains to what is available on Facebook. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LEVEL LAND INCOME GOLD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1-2 Field 10 1,000 1-2 Farm 15 1,100 1-2 Weaponsmith 25 1,300 1-2 Blacksmith 30 1,400 3-8 Tavern 100 10,000 3-8 Pasture 110 11,000 3-8 Crumbling Ruin 120 12,000 3-8 Brewery 130 13,000 9-15 Castle 1,000 100,000 9-15 Granary 1,100 110,000 9-15 Mine 1,200 120,000 16-24 Magician's Tower 5,000 500,000 16-24 Magic Forge 5,230 625,000 16-24 Alchemical Laboratory 5,460 550,000 16-24 Small Tower 5,690 575,000 25-33 Chapel 5,920 600,000 25-33 Keep 10,000 1,000,000 25-33 Dwarven Mine 10,600 1,040,000 25-33 Elven Weavers Shop 11,200 1,080,000 25-33 Palace 11,800 1,120,000 34-44 Dwarven Armory 50,000 5,000,000 45-50 Cathedral 51,100 5,040,000 45-50 Magic School 100,000 100,000,000 45-50 Mountain Fortress 104,000 100,240,000 45-50 Holy shrine 108,000 100,480,000 45-50 Country 112,000 100,720,000 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [9] LIST OF QUESTS - Cuz you hate clicking on Quest INFO to see quest stats ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A nice reason to have a list of quests is that you can see which items are required, consumed, how big is the party requirement, whether it drops loot -- ALL without having to click on EACH quest's info. Here is a one stop shop for 500 new party members :) Mined from various sources and forums. See FIGHTS section for how the # of party substantially affects your wins. One major note about adding other Quest IDs to your party is your party members' levels do not matter, at all. When people on forums go "Add me, I'm lvl 100, fully equiped" it doesn't matter. Neither the level # nor the equipment nor anything else has any affect. The only thing that matters is that you have added them. Your own level only affects you because it accurately shows you how much Health you have and what weapons/armor/veh available to you, but since generally you only fight people in your level anyway, this is a moot point. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 597.097.817 291.216.481 365.039.807 452.032.846 530.772.887 211.716.930 291.607.190 369.621.040 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [11] THANK YOUS - A winner is you ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gotta thank Mysticales and Lilinsky for contributing their knowledge @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-521672.html Particularly for sharing on how the ATT/DEF worked with items, that was HUGE :) Thanks to all the forums sites that everyone has been adding their IDs to! And of course, shout out to Moblying as well for developing such an addictive game. I can't tell you how many hours I've enjoyed grinding on Quest. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [12] ABOUT ME ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm a gamer, a nerd, a developer, but I'm also a starving musician trying to get the word out about my work. If you're not already nauseous and sickened from my shameless plug, come check it out for a moment. My indie rock band, Thomas' Apartment, just released our 3rd full length album in November 2009. If ya dig what you hear, share it with your friends :) http://thomasapartment.com/clips/tuesdaynightlights/Believe.mp3 My trance dj mixsets and remixes: http://unity303.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THAT'S ALL FOLKS! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For comments, errors, updates, etc on this FAQ, write me. I always credit contributions. My email: 303-gamefaqs (at) unity303.com Happy questing!
