I really have no idea what to say about this game. Dragon's Dogma has actually left me speechless. It's that damned amazing.
Sinicki's review here on CH of the PS3 version may be justified (but probably not) - I've heard it has some of the issues he lists in his review: Link
But if you are an Action-RPG fan, own a 360, (or PS3, though I can't comment on that version specifically) and enjoyed one of the following: Monster Hunter (any of 'em), Demon/Dark Souls, Shadow of the Colossus, Resident Evil/Silent Hill (no really, when the sun sets you are constantly in danger of being ganged up on), or The Elder Scrolls then you should BUY THIS GAME RIGHT NOW. Or at least try the demo.
It takes a while for the story to pick up momentum, but once it does... Well, I won't spoil any of the twists, but the final leg of the game is immensely satisfying. It's also worth noting that there is a New Game+ option, but even if you are a "one play-through only" kind of person, a single play-through in Dragon's Dogma can (if you're doing sidequests) hit the triple digits in time played - and it can easily hit at least 40-50 hours just doing the main quest! Sidequests will double that, and then some.
So this is a wise investment for console ARPG fans. NOW GO DOWNLOAD THE DEMO/BUY THE GAME!
So I had a seizure yesterday... posted 6/10/2012 3:57:39 AM
Yep. Came kind of out of the blue somewhere around 17:00 or 18:00 on Saturday (9th), I somehow managed to overdose on one of my prescription meds without thinking I was doing so. I seized, blacked out, and came hurdling back into the world of consciousness with my mother bawling her eyes out and screaming hysterically as the paramedics tried to ascertain how bad the seizure was, what caused it, whether I had any other health issues, etc. My dad was similarly trying and failing to stave off the tears and hysterics, then my grandfather arrived and yep, you guessed it, not so stoic himself, either. Though he didn't really cry or get hysterical, just sad-looking. Hell, even one of my kitties got in on it!
I was in the hospital until about 01:00 Sunday (10th) so I was there for about five or six hours at least. Due to the nature of the problem and its source (prescription drug usage) they got flushed out of my system pretty quick and I'm doing much better. Still can't remember most of yesterday's events prior to waking up on a gurney by my front door, but Hell, I don't really want to know what was going through my head anyway. I just know I'll never again OD on anything, ever.
It's also incredibly strange, as my dad had a heart attack last month, and I was similarly asleep when my mom stirred me into the land of the waking with hysterical sobbing. He recovered as well, so at least there's that.
Wellp, it's official: Link As the article says, around December there was a scare due to the CEO saying the company had been shut down, but they'd simply lost funding and were continuing to develop without pay - but now it is officially dead.
A number of the developers have migrated to a team working on a F2P MMO called Survarium, (Link, in Russian: Link) and the title/theme there certainly seems to evoke S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but I personally think it unlikely that an MMO could capture the same atmosphere.
Dark Souls - PC Gamers, LIKE ME! posted 4/1/2012 11:15:29 PM
So, I've talked about how Dark Souls had a petition for a PC port and such in the past. (here: Link)
Well, Namco is now asking people to like a Dark Souls app of a stunningly beautiful brick wall to further progress towards a mysterious announcement... Link
Normally I don't like to partake in Facebook shenanigans, but I would gladly attempt to erect a space elevator to the moon, by hand, if Dark Souls required it.
Here is an apparent leak of the preorder preview:
And here is the opening image for Aussie mag PC Powerplay's preview article for this month's issue: (confirmed to be real by Spudeh, at least apparently - Link)
I'm not saying everybody should start doing their happy dances, but...
