||BULLETSTORM REVIEW- PS3
Bulletstorm is a futuristic first person shooter following Grayson Hunt and his squad on a hunt for revenge against their former Commander. Grayson's squad, known as Dead Echo, is a squad of soldiers trained to assassinate targets. Little did they know that those targets were actually innocent people that the had intel about the Commander's corruption. When Dead echo finds out that they have assassinating innocent civilians, they go on a hunt for revenge.
The game starts off in the point of view of Grayson. He is looking at a bounty hunter strapped to a chair with a bottle taped to his head. Grayson, and one of his squad members are interrogating him. The bounty hunter told them that they have a bounty of $1,000,000 for each member on their heads. Grayson reacts by taking a drink of beer, which makes his vision blurry, and shoots the bottle off of the guys head. He then kicks the bounty hunter into the airlock and sends the guy out into space. Now, there is more to this level of the game, but I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't played it yet.
The gameplay in this game is fast-paced, action filled, carnage. There is never less than 5 enemies on the screen at once. Once the enemies show up on screen, bullets, fkares, grenades, and bodies start to fly all over the place. This game is chalk full of intense weapons and different ways to destroy your enemies. After the first playthrough, I still didn't achieve all of the skillshots that are available to you in the game. Skillshots are how you gain currency in this game. You use this currency at Dropkits to purchase ammo and upgrades for your weapons.
This game isn't the longest game out there, but it definitely isn't short either. Each level of the game however, was a sight to behold. Huge buildings, most falling apart around you, huge gardens full of man-eating plants, and underground caverns, all look well rendered and stunning to see.
One of the best parts of this game was the dialog. While most of it is crude, disgusting humor, it is usually hilarious to a young guy like myself. If you don't like hearing alot of swear words or references to people as a part of the female anatomy, then I would suggest you don't play this game, as it happens on a regular basis.
Overall this game is a very good game. The story in this game is nothing like I expected it to be, it was alot better. The gameplay is fantastic, as well as the weapons you can acquire, and is definitely worth the money you pay. The only downside, is that the replayability isn't the highest out there, but it does have some. Especially with Echo Mode as an option. Echo Mode, places you at certain parts of the campaign, and rates your performance, giving you a score. You can then compare your score with your friends' scores.
Lasting Appeal: 7/10
