Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is a love letter to adventure games of old. Granted, you'll still be forced to click the screen wildly in hopes of finding obtuse clues in some situations, but for the most part, the first Ace Attorney game is very easy to pick up, very engaging and will get you hooked within the first two cases.
While the idea of being a lawyer might seem like a boring premise, in reality the ace attorney games are half over-the-top courtroom antics and half detective mystery games. Originally a game boy advance game in Japan, the graphics are pretty suspect, especially considering the upgrades which the series goes through in the later games. What sets this game apart though is the music. It provides a perfect tone setter in crucial moments and great set-ups for jokes as well.
If you even have a remote interest in this game after playing it through, give the sequels a shot as well, as the phoenix wright saga plays out across three DS games, and the patient gamer who plays through them all is in for a storytelling treat. |
