Also, a .22 break action would be my choice. The rifle will never break down, and the ammo is everywhere and light.
.223 and 30-30 are just as common, and more effective--but also massively heavier.
You're mobile. You can't afford to weigh yourself down with ammo.

I voted Rifle before reading the distinction between that and the Marksman rifle, so I'd rather choose Marksman rifle...
The only reason why is because I'd want the range and the accuracy to get a zombie in the head, I know almost nothing about guns...
