So typical. This has been one of my longest standing arguments for anti-piracy measures like this, is it provides pirates with a superior product, which actually incites piracy. TacomaYakko I'm a bit confused are you in any way reffering to my question conerning one the issues I'm now having with the trainer that as of yesterday was working with the possibility the game was patched today? or if not that then what are you reffering to?
Any response would be greatly appreciated

I hadn't read page 9 before I made that post, so no.
But the 7-option trainer no longer works, and you need the no-DVD patch (by skidrow) to get the new one to work.
Somewhere in here is a link to a google search that will take you straight to the torrent.
Oh **** me, there goes all my chapter checkpoints.

edit: nevermind, it was the silly steam_appid.txt file the skidrow fix had.

edit on that edit: nevermind. without looking, I now suspect that the chapter checkpoints are stored in the exe file.
I'm going to finish this one as-is, then use the trainer on my next playthrough.

edit: Guess it's more complicated than that. I erased the exe entirely, restored it with steam and got my savegames back. I have no idea what 2k is up to.

So you're saying the game has not been patched???? The trainer I am using is the one released before the most recent mega trainer and that one was working as of last night.

The one I've been using all along worked up until the point I tried to play again today. Nothing on Steam's news about a patch, and I'm not really interested enough to find out.
I got it. Under Users/AppData/Local/2K Games/Mafia 2/Saves, the crack caused a new numerical subfolder to be created with default settings and no saves. Make a backup of that and copy all files from the other numerical subfolder to the new one. Loading the game with the nodvd fix should now give you your saves back.
No idea how stable they'll be yet, but I'm about to find out.
edit: with the restored savegames, game is stable, trainer is not. I haven't tested a fresh game with the trainer yet.

edit2: it's fine as long as I don't hit the cash key. this could be due to the fact that I'd used it with the older trainer on that save
