Right.
I now know that this trainer is not a virus.
But when I try to run it, it comes up with an error.

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

What exactly do I need to do to get this trainer working in the way it should do?

Yeap, your Antivirus is blocking it for sure. Add the trainer to its exceptions list or just disable it.
