The free release of Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries is distributed by MekTek's BitTorrent download client, MTX. But MTX has had a TON of problems (not playing well with any known AV was the least of their issues).
MekTek has told people to use other torrent mirrors to get the data, and then to install in offline mode. But, yeah, the Pirate Bay link gave me pause, too.
