-How do you find CH compared with other forums you visit.
CH has a very strong component of community. What I think differentiates CH from other forums in this regard is that CH, being a game cheats website, has lots of people who join and visit only to get hints or tips or cheats for games. The number of people who become, and stay, active in the community is relatively small. This allows assimilation of everyone into what is more or less a single group. Whereas forums dedicated to being a forum have lots of people active in the community and instead seem to form sub-groups and stay within their sub-groups and very often form rivalries and become antagonistic to other subgroups--this in turn leads to trolling and forum wars and whatnot. And I think CH has been able to avoid this fracturing, and is therefore a stronger community.
-Are you easily angered? If so, why do you think this is?
Not usually. I'm generally very thick-skinned and tend to avoid confrontation. When I was a child, I was quite a stutterer, so I guess I had to develop a resistance to impudence.
-Got any favorite beers/Spirits/****tails?
There's this one beer from Great Divide Brewing Company in Denver called "Samurai Ale". It's an American Blonde Ale (kind of like a Kölsch style), with rice added into it. Now, I'm not a fan of rice in the brewing process--but this beer is really really good.
I'm also a big fan of single malt scotches. I like Glenlivet. But I very seldom buy any, because it tends to get expensive.
****tails..."something highly alcoholic and tastes like candy" is what I order from my favorite barmaid; who then, looking beautiful as she does it, mixes something unique and delicious. And seldom charges me.
-What are a few of your favorite movies and why do you like these?
I have a hard time identifying favorites...
Barry Lyndon is definitely one of my favorites. It's a period drama by Stanley Kubrick, based on the William Makepeace Thackeray novel "The Luck of Barry Lyndon" and set during the Seven Years War.
And I suppose The Darjeeling Limited. It's a Wes Anderson film... I didn't really like it at first, but after a few times watching, it kind of grew on me. It's taken The Life Aquatic's place as my favorite Wes Anderson.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Based on the Hunter S Thompson book and directed by Terry Gilliam.
I guess.
-What do you like most about CHU?
I mentioned the community aspect, and this is indeed what I like most about it.
-If you could change one thing about CHU, what would it be?
I would very much like to be able to imbed youtube videos in blogs. And maybe have formatting tools available when you're writing posts so that you don't have to run down a page three or four times to make sure you closed every tag.
-How long could you see yourself at the site, months, years, a lifetime?
I purchased the lifetime membership...and I don't want to waste that money... At the very least as long as CHU has great trainers.
-Where can you see yourself in 10 years time?
I hope to be well past grad school by that point. It has always been my plan to go on and get a MA and PhD, but I got caught up in a great job and then a crappy job and now six months of unemployment... We'll see.
-If you were stuck on a desert island and you could take 3 things to keep you entertained or to survive, what would they be?
A cat that never dies, a fishing pole, and the complete, unabridged, Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.
-If you were stuck on the same desert island and you could take 3 CHU members for company, who would they be and why?
Probably...
Toastman. Because he's funny and we seem to get along.
Darkish. Same reasons, plus he's a bit of a broly and you always need a strong dude.
And someone who's good at folding space and time so we can go out for snacks.
-Got any favourite songs/artists/Genres?
I like 80s and early 90s metal--Dio, Iron Maiden, Danzig. I like Progressive Rock, mostly of the late 60s and 1970s--Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Rush. I'm keen on celtic rock, even though I'm not celtic by any definition--Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, The Tossers.
-Do you play an instrument? If so, which or how many?
In middle school I played the clarinet... But no, I don't play any instruments. I do own a stylophone and a jew harp.
-Tell me one of your drunken stories.
Ummmm...ok... I ordered something highly alcoholic that tastes like candy and the barmaid came up with this monstrosity:
Link What you see is something vaguely the size of a fishbowl. And it's filled halfway with Everclear--96% pure grain alcohol. And the rest with flavored rums and fruit mixes... My stomach is kind of getting upset thinking about it. And then the bar's owner dared me to drink it all down fast and if I did all the drinks would be free that night. So I did. And then proceeded to have five or six more drinks in the vein of this one:
Link not nearly as big, not nearly as alcoholic but still enough to get me completely ****faced.
Then met up with my one friend's girlfriend and we all went to Ihop. I had a BLT. We listened to Dropkick Murphys in the car, and I swear I sang well.
Then we got back to my friend's house and I puked next to his driveway in the snow. And when I say I puked, I mean I heaved up six times.
And then I walked into his garage and sat down on the concrete floor and fell asleep.
I have an unfortunate condition where I remember absolutely everything from when I'm drunk.
-If you could marry one celebrity, who would they be?
I don't know. I'll just say Taylor Swift. Because she's blazing hot.
-Tell us something about the area you live in.
If there weren't houses in the way, I could see Lake Michigan.
-What would it take to give up alcohol for a year?
Honestly... Money would be nice.
