But now for some reason my computer looks all jacked up. I was troubleshooting by changing the comparability of some of the files on the disk, and when I did that and ran it it looked like it does now but the files are back to their original state and they are still doing this. Ideas?

It looks like your Graphic card drivers crashed which resulted in your screen being set in 256 color mode. Re-install/Update your Graphic card drivers, restart your system, go to properties (Right click on desktop screen), and from there change your color mode by clicking on the "Appearance" tab (Into 32-bit or whatever you prefer).
