So im trying to install a game, and every time i get a "-5006 : 0x8000ffff" error... Does anyone know how to fix it.

Try this:-

1) Go to "Program Files" located in the drive which has Windows Installed.

2) From there locate a folder named "Common Files" and open it.

3) Here you will find a folder named "InstallShield" - Delete this folder.

And now try installing the game. Hope this helps you.

It worked thanks!

But now for some reason my computer looks all jacked up. I was troubleshooting by changing the comparability of some of the files on the disk, and when I did that and ran it it looked like it does now but the files are back to their original state and they are still doing this. Ideas?

It looks like your Graphic card drivers crashed which resulted in your screen being set in 256 color mode. Re-install/Update your Graphic card drivers, restart your system, go to properties (Right click on desktop screen), and from there change your color mode by clicking on the "Appearance" tab (Into 32-bit or whatever you prefer).

Oh thank god its not that, I just fixed it, realized i accidentally made it show it int 256 color. You scared me for a second.
