So all of you guys know that the G8 is being held in Toronto this year and the G20 is in Hutsville (sp?). Anyway, I live near Toronto and I must say it's like Ghost town over there. My only complaint about this event is that why don't they choose a rural area instead of an urban area? It's more private and you would probably cause very little issues or changes in routine for the residents and workers. Residents had to get background checks and some of them were placed in hotels. Hospital patients were moved out of there unit and into other hospitals. Workers were told to work at home and not go to work. The traffic is a complete disaster! If you're SO worried about safety for these leaders pick a place that's deserted! >: O It makes me so angry! It's such a waste of a billion dollars!

It's the other way around. G8 is in Hutsville, G20 is in Toronto. G8: Link G20: Link

Hmm, ok? Have 20 leaders in the world in the same building? Sounds smart

Ok. Telecommunications on that scale are horribly unreliable. It's easy to talk one-on-one via video conference, but getting 20 people on and working correctly is impossible.

I can't understand why so many people are having panic attacks over this.
Canada isn't the only one who's spent big money on these meetings, all the other countries had their turn and now it's our time to step up. This is what happens when you're a successful country, there are certain things we have to do and the G8/G20 is one of them.
A billion dollars, oh wow, like the government doesn't spend billions at a time all the time anyways.
I don't want a big car, particularly. I have no need for acreage, and I don't like the fuel bills. But I don't want a small one because they're all like supermarket own-brand cola: weedy imitations of the real thing - Jeremy Clarkson
