As most of you know Microsoft has just recently released their new product, the Xbox 360 Slim. Just at a glance, you can see that it's quite smaller than the older version of the Xbox 360 and that it has a new design; the shape is different and it has a new glossy black coloring. The Xbox 360 Slim also has built in Wi-Fi and touch sensitive buttons to turn the system on and open the disc tray. It also comes equipped with a 250 GB hard-drive that is hidden within the system, but it can be removed if necessary. One thing to note is that this hard-drive isn't comparable with previous Xbox 360s. You will have to buy the transfer kit separately to get data off of your previous hard-drive. It also has optical audio output for surround sound which wasn't included with previous 360s.
Other features and differences between the Slim and older models is that the Slim includes an additional USB port, it is also significantly quieter than the older versions, it has a port for Microsoft's new Kinect product which is scheduled to be released in the fall, and the power brick is much smaller. The bottom line is if you already own an Xbox 360 and you aren't having any issues than there is no real reason to buy this product, considering none of the new additions are totally necessary. But if you're looking to buy a 360 for the first time or if your old one got the RROD or you're having other troubles with it, then this is the Xbox 360 to buy; at $299.99, it's a steal.
What do you think about the new 360? Is it worth buying?
If I was in the market for a new Xbox this sounds awesome. Like you said it doesn't have anything amazing but there are a ton of small things that really add up. But I already have a 360, and for the most part it works fine. It scratches discs but since I install them the second I buy them I can prevent that. The only problem I have is it freezes maybe once a week, but that's not a $300 problem.
First off I love the design, glossy black matches my TV, my surround sound system, and my TV stand. The touch sensitive buttons are cool, my TV has those and they work well and look cool.
The hard drive is just awesome, I had to buy a 60GB drive when they came out with the ability to install games because the standard 20GB one is just stupid small.
Surround sound output I like. I don't have an HDMI cable for my 360 (I only have 1, connecting the surround sound to the TV) so I've never been able to use my surround sound and that sucks. And after spending $500 on a console and another $80-ish on a 60GB hard drive I'm not about to spend more money on it.
A quieter system is always good. I install all my games so I don't get disc drive noise, but the fans are brutally loud.
I'm not really interested in Kinect though, I'm more of a lazy gamer, don't really want to jump around and wave my arms all over the place.

It looks ok except the fact that it's glossy which means it's a fingerprint magnet. It was about time for the built in WIFI because 70$ for a wireless adapter is excessive.

The reason for the slim is it will be close to impossible to flash the drive to allow backups :P
So does that mean it's harder to load pirated games on it?
