Unfortunately, on average, the Phenom II 1090T is only as good as Intel's mid-range procs. A 920 that's overclocked, hell a 860 that's overclocked, would completely whup both of AMD's hex-cores. With both at stock the 1090T only barely moves past the 860 it terms of everyday usage performance.

You can easily clock the 1090T at 4Ghz per core, without a huge temp rise.
And the 1090T has the new core speed tech also.
It is a better CPU than what the OP listed.
Oh and Don't forget some tuts on ASM and defeating DMA
