So at the final suicide mission, I did not choose to play with Tali at all, not at the Fire team, or by making her a specialist (For unlocking doors).

So why is that character appearing to be dead (Red shade over her on the squal selection screen when I try to choose squad members?

And yes, this is after I choose to continue the game after the credits finish rolling.

Hope I am clear on conveying my doubt.

did u leave her to stay back with the team to hold the door while u moved on for the final mission to take down the reaper?

No matter what command you give them during the final mission , If you have not completed their loyalty mission , chances are high that they will die

for the suicide mission always take the weakest members with u always. send legion through the vent..first fire team led by garrus..second fire team led by miranda...grunt as escort back to the ship..the rest leave behind to hold the door. and yes..they all have to be loyal to u. u must also have all the ship upgraded..Jacob-armor..Tali-Shield...and garrus-thanix cannon.

Yep. And you have to also be careful about the conflicting situations. I think that after you completed Tali and Legion's loyalty mission you get a situation in which if you don't have high enough Paragon/Renegade you will lose one of the members' loyalty, depending on your choice of dialogue. Also there was a similar situation between Jack and Miranda. I don't think there was a third conflict situation.
So dude, get your Paragon/Renegade options to the max and start choosing those blue/red dialogue options.
One note though, when using Renegade be careful as it can easily alienate ( ) some of the members of the squad.

I succeeded with primarily Paragon options, max loyalties on everyone, with this choice:
    Vents: Tali
2nd Team: Garrus or Miranda (both work)
    Escort: Mordin
    Diversion team: Garrus or Miranda
    Barrier: Samara

Well apart from Jack, all the members were loyal to me...This was because I sided Miranda on their fight.

And yes, I did not even activate Legion when I was doing the suicide mission, EDI told me it was near the ship's core, so I gave up when I did not find anything near it. I found and activated Legion later after I found its location through the internet.

And yes, Thane, Garrus and Jack died during the sequence of Normandy reaching the Collecter ship during the suicide mission.

    This was my line-up:-

    Vents: Mordin
Fire Team: Lead by Miranda at first, later on Jacob
    Escort: Grunt
    Barrier: Samara.

Tali was compromised, and I think I left her and Samara into guarding the door.

pls click on the link in my previous post if u haven't already. and if u have all their loyalties intact..no one will die. make sure u have all ur ship upgrades as well. do another play-through and try and gain as much paragon as u can and the link i gave u has the best possibilties to make sure ur entire crew survives. i've done about 10 play-throughs with no one dying.
