For some reason I run the trainer, then the game. The trainer starts going "Activated", waits a few seconds and says "Deactivated." I haven't pressed anything. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. I do have antivirus, Avast. I'm using the 1.0006 trainer.

Disable your antivirus-firewall and try again. It may work.
