What do you notice about this image?

The correct answer is "the distance from the treeline to the wall is ten paces".

    Why is this significant?

This is supposed to be a fortified city aligned with Florence.

    It's fortified out of necessity.

Renaissance Italy was a time of almost constant warfare between city-states and their respective hegemonies.

This city would be required to defend itself.

The trees would provide cover to attacking armies--up to TEN PACES FROM THE WALL.

These trees shouldn't be there. They wouldn't be there.

The garrison commander would have conscripted civilian labor and pushed that treeline back a good half mile or so.

If you want people to feel immersed in Renaissance Italy, you need to not make stupid mistakes like this.
In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'

And yet the main character's rummage sale reject outfit plays into the immersion aspect perfectly.

Maybe it's Renaissance Florence in another dimension in a galaxy far, far away. And there all searching for the mighty Da Vinci crystal to save the world?

...No? Ok I'll get back in my hole.
    Doing some old school gaming.

We're critiquing level design in this thread.

Costuming will be in a different thread, but will not feature AC2, because Ezio is actually quite in the height of fashion for mercenaries in Renaissance Italy.
