If you chuck it on a swimming pool, the whole thing ends up looking a bit like those foggy swamps in old horror movies.
Seriously though, there is a reason you can't just google it, you need a certificate to get the stuff.

But you can go and try and raid the local ice skating rink.

well that sucks, and once i raided the ice skating rink where would i find the stuff

    Not too sure, it varies.
And its not like I'm going to give away that kind of information to begin with.

In the US, you can usually get it at the local gas supply company. Some hardware stores also sell it. And restaurant supply stores.

Depending on the temperature of the water, if you pour it into a pool, the leidenfrost effect can be violent in nature...

You have to be 18 to purchase liquid nitrogen (same for dry ice), so you'll have a very hard time getting any whatsoever.

I've bought it over the counter...

I made liquid nitrogen ice cream for a Boy Scout project.

    Wasn't that good.

It tasted like normal ice cream, but had the texture of... you know how sometimes the store forgets a shipment of ice cream on its loading dock and it all thaws and then they throw it in the deep freeze and it gets like this crystalline texture? That's what it was like.

I tried to procure a sample of liquid nitrogen a couple of years, though not as much as your looking for, I need only about 1/16th of a beaker full.

I had tried ordering it, but ran into samr problems as yourself. I had thought to borrow Some from Science University, but met high resistance from security when I tried to requisition it by force.

Ordering some of the Internet did not work so well ether. As soon as the parcel arrived in the country, customs seized it and took the courier into questiong (or something like that) and Police were at my front gate demanding to be let in.

After about an hour of unusually harsh verbal treatment and some hard lessions learned ... They left. Further attempts to procure a sample did not stop until Last year (14 months ago) when I was given permission to test it in an on Campus lab.

The results were unexpected and proved most interesting, though my official analysis was "found nothing of interest" given the history and nature of the Professors and on Campus Doctors; A Students discovery soon becomes their discovery, as they swoop down vultures upon a fresh corpse .

    To Sum It UP

You might be able to order some off the Internet, but it will never get through customs. Attempts to procure even a small sample from local Medical or Sicience Universites will be met with resistance by Professors and Security.
