I managed to complete the two "Sink XXX,XXX tons of British shipping" tasks and then stopped my sub, surfaced, and saved my game.
When I came back the next day, I came to the conclusion that I had to head back to Kiev, or whatever. However, after setting my course and then increasing time compression, the game locks up just after I enter the Baltic Sea.
I get one when I'm using the attack periscope and another at just random times.
Their tech support seems rather useless.
But from talk on the official forums, it's a problem with Ubi's servers and not the game.
Since the game is constantly updated from the servers, it locks up if there's any trouble.
Which seems to be all the time.

The worst part is that I can't even sell this on. I'm not satisfied with Ubi's service and the game is just too unstable. But because Ubi thinks that stupidly excessive restrictions will halt piracy, I'm stuck with this piece of *explodes*
Oh, and for those of you who are wondering, the DRM used on both SH5 and Assassin's Creed 2 have both been broken. Sure it took longer, but it still was about as useful as a chocolate kettle.
The problem with the DRM on SH5 is that you need to find a rip version that has been played all the way through with all the possible outcomes, has had everything unlocked and all the missions completed in order to be able to actually play the game. Because it loads the game from the server as you play it. Your dynamic missions aren't installed from the DVD.

I have an outstanding tech support ticket that's been sitting there for five days now. Ubi's support is flooded with crap frpm AC2 and SH5.

Okay, so as self-satisfyingly-smug it makes me feel to bash Ubi's totally useless copy protection and shoddy game making, how do I solve this problem? I can't progress past the first two missions if I'm suffering this crash.
Okay, I've discovered that after using time compression, the game stops rendering all textures that are not the interior of the sub or underwater. No texture on the sub's hull, no texture on the deck crew, no textures on the sea (also the waves disappear, so the sea is just a flat black plane) and no textures on the clouds.
The sky is still there, with stars and all. Also, game still renders objects properly underwater. Seabed, waves seen from below, plants, rocks, ect. are all fine.

I occasionally get the same rendering problem and I have no clue.
Ubi has delayed its next patch indefinitely.
