What programs are used to make avatars? Is it as simple as using paint? Or is there a different program I need to use? And then please can you tell me how I would do so? Thanks.

Hey, we all gotta start somewhere.

Sure, you can use paint, or photoshop, or gimp, any picture editing software really.

Personally, I use this- Link It's simple and it works well enough.

Thanks

EDIT: Ok I am now using the program Latios suggested. I know how to select a part of a picture but how would I get it to exactly 80x165 pixels?

Cropping the image into the exact size or using a resize tool works best. I'm not familiar with paint.net so the tools included with it may be different. If you need more help, feel free to pm me.

Click "image", then either choose resize or canvas size.

What Paradox said.

If you resize it'll shrink the image into whatever dimensions you tell it. With Canvas Size it'll chop off the sides of the image until it reaches the dimensions you want.
