I play game because it's something I love to do...simply, an addict? maybe, a true gamer? for sure, what games I like? anything that I might like, could be Call of duty and it could be a NES Golf game.

Playing video games is just something I picked up as a form of entertainment in the mid 90's after someone gave me their PS1. nothing more nothing less. Sure there were times when I put excessive hours into a game like when I was playing StarOcean 3 or when I played Final Fantasy 7 or 8, right now though I play it as a way to wind down for maybe an hour at the end of the day, sometime I may even go a week or so without playing. I am indeed a gamer but not in the deep way your thinking of, to me gaming is nothing more then a form of entertainment just the same as someone sitting down to watch some television. Although I don't agree with you I can see where your coming from, when something consumes your life to the point your talking about of course your going to try and justify it as something more then it is.

for me..its an addiction. its about control for me...doing things which i can't imagine doing in real life. i seriously doubt if the concept of a 'true gamer' actually exists. its entertainment..its fun..its a way to escape the vagaries of real life..albeit for a brief moment in time.

I wouldn't say there's such a thing as a "true gamer", simply those who take it more or less seriously than others.
For me, it is a form of entertainment, can be done socially and for an escape when needed.
So, yes, gaming is my drug. My very sexy drug.

I do it out of an feeling of freedom and escape from the physical rules of our world. But i have to agree with Dhampy and Paradox there's no such thing as a true gamer, saying would be like a kid saying that he's Batman or Spiderman. In other words, silly.
