It's coincidence, nothing more.
I had no father figure growing up, but I act very compassionate yet masculine.
I don't get how a psych professor could be so off on things though.
Environment MAY have a factor, but insofar as proof no one knows definitively what makes a person homosexual versus heterosexual.
You call it a coincidence but, you do back up his theory.
However, I know gay people who have fathers and "normal" nuclear families. There probably are a lot of variables which contribute to your sexuality, initially it's organic but, environment could definitely be a factor, such as prison.

Part of it may have to do with those very same Nuclear Families suppressing any acts of femininity in their male children. Which could lead to them expressing themselves in an extreme manor when they're older.
I personally have a father figure in my life. I don't think that being gay is either environmental or genetic....it may be a combination of the two...but I'm not sure. Why do I like other guys? Because I just don't find women attractive....don't ask me why :P (though if you could set me up on a date with a girl like Amy Lee, I'd think about it >_> but shhhh dun tell foxxie >_<

Hm..
Is the father figure in your life, your father?
Your sexual preference will be genetic or environmental or a combination of the two, there are no other possibilities. There is pretty much nothing worth reading in what you just wrote, it's just irrationally dismissive and clumsy.
If I was gay, I would be very interested in understanding why. Essentially, not finding women attractive is counter-productive to the nature of humanity. As an intelligent person, I would need to investigate. For someone to say, "I just am, don't ask me why" is just tedious.
How wrong you are about that Foxxie.
