Guys,
I got Borderlands with the 3 DLC's a little while ago, but could never play the game due to its nasty habit of GSOD'ing my older E6850 & GTX260.
Now that I have an i7-860 & HD5870, nothing in this game slows the machine down! How far in on the main story should I play before branching-out into the DLC's?

I wouldn't mind knowing opinions on this as well. I also just recently purchased the game on Steam (it was half off, I figured what the hell). I also got two of the DLC packs (Zombie Island of Dr. Ned and Secret Armory of General Knoxx), so knowing when long time players think is a good time to play the DLC would be cool.

FWIW - I'm at 'Not Without My Claptrap' - I just rescued him & have a 'Middle of Nowhere' task to complete (I have not done any of the side jobs on any of the bounty boards - also, I have a hard time understanding the ClapTrap talking about the 'something-something that needs to be done' - who do I need to see for that job?).
Thanks!

I have been playing the game since it came out and have all the DLC...Zombie Island, Moxxi's Underdome and Knoxx.
it is hard to really tell anyone when to go to the DLC, but, here is some info on how i play
there are technically 3 playthroughs
Playthrough 1 - if you complete all the quests in the main game...you should be around level 31-34....i do not play any of the DLC on this playthrough
Playthrough 2 - after you complete all the main quests from Playthrough 1, this playthrough will be available...all enemies will start at around level 31-34(which is around where your character is at) and go up to 50 in the main game....
i usually play the Zombie Island DLC somewhere in the middle of the main quest....
the Moxxi DLC you can pretty much play at anytime on any playthrough... i would recommend around the middle of the 2nd playthrough....
once you complete the main quests for playthrough 2....that is the time to go to the Knoxx DLC....you will be around level 50 and the enemies start at 48-52
Playthrough 2.5 for the main game boosts all enemies to 48-51...you get to this playthrough after completing all the main quests from playthrough 2

E6850 and GTX260 are OLD? LOLOLOLOL
I'm running an E6850, and two 8800GTX's in SLI...and I've NEVER had any problems with Borderlands, much less any issues running it at max settings and Frame Rates.
Kids now adays and their sense of time.../sigh

I'd recommend after Old Haven.
Ditch any shock or corrosive weapons before going to the zombies. They're immune.

After Playthrough 1. The minium Level is 38 but recommend Level 48 when your weapons and shields have hit the next grade up. Playing online coop is way more fun. Wouldn't attempt Crawmerax (end of the end bosses = "You will die!" mission ) until lvl 61. Recently seen a bunch of lower level charters kill craw with cheats or trainers, such as Omega Rose shield and crazy 1 shot kill machine gun. Don't recommend this its not fun, and ruins it, but to each their own.
DLC 3 General Knoxx is good, but lots of driving and new cool weapons. Armory and Craw for loot. *BUY*
DLC1 Dr Ned Zombie: didn't really like it. I not a zombie person. *NEH*
DLC2: Moxi: is small and just an arena. But it has a BANK feature that lets you store weapons. Which can be worth the cost. *BUY*
Overall good luck and have fun. Lots of addicted co-op players who can help you level up in the missions. Also recommend trying willowtree and modding your backpack spaces.. to carry more (850 slots.
