Well as far as I know steam updates the game for you automaticly, if you want to stop this right-click the game and select properties, go to the updates tab and turn off automatic updates.

You know, since day one of installing steam, i've turned the automatic update option off on most of my steam games yet Steam cheerfully updates them regardless.
its a bit annoying really.

Yea i uninstalled settlers, and re downloaded it, then turned off the updates, right when i went to use the trainer, it started running the updates and trainer doesnt work
hmmm then i must be doing something wrong or it just isnt working for me, reading over troubleshooting tips now. I seem to hear the trainer activate at main menu, and it says game found, I can hear the sound when i hit the hotkeys but nothing happens
