First off, I'm not sure what the difference is between the two (if there is one.) But I've recently been wanting to watch a series. I want to watch one that's dark and has a good romantic story. I would like it to be newer, like made in the past few years, or even this year.
I don't really care if I have to go to best buy to buy it if that's the only place to get it. But I prefer it to be able to find online for free.
Manga is like comic books, anime's probably what you're looking for.
Death Note's got a good dark story, though romance isn't a focal point. I guess you could try School Days if you want a real dark romance. Heck, even despite how cheerful and wacky One Piece is, it can get pretty dark at times too.
If it's manga, you can try either Maken-ki on Onemanga.com or Princess Resurrection (No website, try googling it).
For Animé, again Princess Resurrection, or the Evangelion series.
