There are some things that simply must be done, regardless of any other considerations.
Need a new tire for your car, you get a new tire. You have a collapsed pipe going out to the sewer main, you get it replaced. Your hard drive is dying, you get a new hard drive.
Because the alternative is not an acceptable alternative in ANY situation. You can't drive to work on three tires and your spare cannot handle the strain of sustained use. You can't even turn on the faucet in your house with the path to the sewer main blocked because it'll all backup into your house and then you're looking at five times the cost to detoxify your house before the town lets you back in. You lose a hard drive, you mess up your RAID, you lose data. Some of which you very well may never be able to find again.

for me the worst thing would be my gfx card dying out on me. HDD nah..not that important
My hard-disk has lots of important data, like project files, source codes, freeware programs, music, movies and lots more...And losing that will give me a panic attack!
