I have two sets I switch in between. One with dual swords for whenever I am taking on lesser monsters or just gathering stuff. One with a bow for when I am taking on major monsters.
Swords take less backpack space, leaving more space for nice stuff to bring back home. But on the other hand, there are some monsters I just don't want to get close to, so then I go for distance.
