I had this problem happen to me and I would like to share what resolved the problem for me in case it happens to anyone else.

If you try to launch the game and you get a DirectX error The either try reinstalling the DirectX that came with the game or changing the desktop resolution.

Thank you, will keep this in mind. I'm still waiting for the UPS Fairy to deliver mine. Should be by any hour now.

There is serious issues accross the world with the game and not much responding from EA am on there sites.

Good grief, it's been released one day; Some countries it's not even out yet. Give them some time to make patches.

Try updating DirectX. Maybe DirectX 9 is not supported in this game, which you might be using. Install DirectX 11, bear in mind its not for XP, but for Vista and Windows 7.

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear before either of the two solutions I listed above should fix the problem. For me it was changing the desktop resolution that fixed it. Keep in mind this game is made with directx9.0c in mind, which of course is windows XP.
