Well, to continue my story: Last night, sunday evening, my net went down for 10 mins. No play.

Today, I left work early. Slow day, and I'll make up for it later this week. However, AC2 doesn't detect any internet connection. Apparently, Ubisoft servers are down, and have been for hours.

Great. Thanks. While the ones who pirated the game plays. Now, exactly how does that give Ubisoft a happy customer, and reduce piracy in the world?

    Rather stupid uh.

And how does talking about this on these forum make Cheat Happens "Wares friendy" - as someone keeps proclaiming.

    Rather stupid uh.

It's Ubisoft that are promoting wares, and they're very efficient at it, at least for the moment.

I've been "suffering" DRMs in all forms since the early 1980's, when I started buying and playing computer games. Wheels and color coded pages in the manuals was popular at the time, as well as questions referring to the manual mid game. They developed into damaged disks (uncopyable) that had to be inserted, on to CD versions of the same. Then serial keys, limitations on number of installs.

So, if we have this rampant scene of pirates, killing the industry, and there's been DRMs for 30 years...

Well, any intelligent person can draw the conclusion I suppose. But I spell it out anyway: DRM's don't work, they don't limit piracy. They only limit the enjoyment of the paying customer.

My internet bandwidth is that of a dial-up connection. So its going to be tough for me. So as the topic says, Its rather unlikely that I will buy this game.

And that is why I can't support Ubisoft on this...

Earlier today, our tips inbox and the official Assassin's Creed 2 forum were set ablaze by incensed owners of the PC version of the aforementioned Italian revenge epic. According to numerous reports from prospective players of the game, Ubisoft's DRM authentification servers have crashed, forcing some players to suffer lengthy login periods when booting up Assassin's Creed 2, and locking some folks out of the game entirely.

A Ubisoft representative responded to a particularly rage-filled forum thread, stating "clearly the extended downtime and lengthy login issues are unacceptable, particularly as I've been told these servers are constantly monitored." The representative added "I'll do what I can to get more information on what the issue is here first thing tomorrow and push for a resolution and assurance this won't happen in the future." We've got a really great suggestion for how to make such an assurance: Find a less abominable DRM policy.

Trust is a fragile thing. Once trust is lost, it can be impossible to recover. Those we're closest to can betray us,and total strangers can come to our rescue. In the end, most people decide to trust only themselves. It really is the simplest way to keep from getting burned.

It has a forum HG, where the broadband kiddies hang out and attack people who dont believe what they do.

    It is soooooo much fun.

The amount of times ive been called a noob or that I dont know anything is funny. Until my quick wit hits them hard with facts they cant counter-argue about, then they sneak off into the shadows and hope someone with more intelligence will carry on their arguments for them.

Good laugh. I also have good debates with the mods there too :P

One question: My Internetspeed is at about 28 Mbit/sec. Is that enough to play assassins creed 2 ? or will it be unplayable because it stops most of the time ?

    Thanks in forward.

Ps: Sorry for my bad english, I am from beautyfull Austria ;-)
