Oh man, I deleted game content in steam window to get a new clean install and tried reinstalling at about 10am EST today and it still not installed at 5pm EST. update shows 16% download and then goes back to 1%. Should have left it alone

Check the folder, it should be getting larger...Steam sucks, so it resets to 1%, but it downloaded the previous 16% and is just starting over the counter from 16% back to 1%.
Should be fine, it did this to me on the initial install.
Once you've downloaded a game and it's not working like it should you don't need to re download the whole game again. Especially a big game like this. Its happen to me several times where I would download a game, some file would be corrupt and it wouldn't work.
All you have to do is right click on the game. select properties, choose the local files tab, and select verfify integrity of game cache. Once the process is done it will detect and match files sizes. If one is bad it will download a fresh one
That's why I hate STEAM. I would download the Razor1911 release (Cause it has the retail sid and sim files), and use it to install the game LEGALLY (Cause we already have bought the game).
Then play.

I was so upset with the long download that I was not paying attention, I had seen that verfify integrity of game cache tab sometime back but it did not occur to my feeble mind. Thanx Vince for reminding me, I will do it the next time around

Then i must ask: why pay at all ? If you have to WORK to get the game running, they should rather be paying you, than you paying them.
Thats the problem about the whole games industry: everyone whining about decreasing sales figures, but actually make a game that works without too many problems ? Not possible.
It's a shame, that such an interesting game is being ****ed up by steam. -.-
