I was wondering what was the best heavy weapon in the game and what is the best party setup for what class or gameplay style.

Nightmare it is all your playstyle and how you want to play. You just need to keep upgrading your weapons.

If you're using unlimited ammo, the Missile Launcher is nice because it's homing, so when I see the old 'oh look random crates forming cover' areas I start spamming missiles to see where the enemy are (were).

Well, if you're also using unl. health, just take the cain. You don't even need a team then

I prefer the Avalanch and unl. ammo cheat. Does good damage and freezes everything.

avalanche is awesome..a heavy barrage of ice..enemy numbers don't matter then(for me). the missile launcher is a bit slow and usually doesn't home in on multiple targets whereas a barrage of ice can flatten a group of enemies. as far as the team's concerned i'd prefer Tali and Miranda.
