I would like to see a day where the Nobel Peace Prize goes to a person who peacefully protests and thus resolves a conflict.
Of course, speaking against anything is more likely to earn a night in a prison cell than an award.
I giggled a little bit. Because peaceful protest doesn't even have an effect on a spat between two people.
If the award were given by legitimate body and not a parliament, it would have recognized long ago that the greatest force for peace in the last seventy years has been nuclear weapons.
The 20th Century before nuclear weapons: 100 million dead in two world wars. The 20th Century before nuclear weapons: Zero dead in world wars, despite everyone itching for a third.
But THAT'S not going to happen.
And you're right. The Nobel Peace Prize has lost all credibility. All it is is a bunch of liberals, recognizing other liberals for their...well whatever it is they are doing.
I also just took a look at the past winners and LOL Jimmy Carter HAHAHAHA.
Edit: Lets forget about Reagan having a huge impact on ending the Cold War...shall we?

It's like when Time's Person of the Year was "you" for being the individual content creator on the internet. The magazine had a mirrored cover...
And in the same vein, the Nobel money can be divided between everyone with an internet connection... About $1million...divided between...about 1.4 billion people...

The Nobel Peace Prize is just a way of saying to someone "Hey, you're popular, possibly infamous, likely evil, and content to sit idly by or even partake in atrocities around the globe that maim and kill innocent people".
If the Internet itself won a Nobel Peace Prize, it would prove that the Decider has no ****ing idea about all the trash, hate, bigotry, violence, and destructiveness there is on the internet and by how much it outnumbers the productive/peaceful minority.
An example. I cannot post a comment on youtube without being called dozens of nasty names by various people.
The internet, and its assumed and expected shield of anonymity, has lead people to harass others to the point of their victims' suicides (Which, within the U.S. is a Federal inter-state crime classed as Manslaughter if I remember right. Not so peaceful, eh?), the psychological torture can make psychopaths out of previously normal people (Again, leading to murders and/or suicides), the internet is a common aid in illegal activities from child pornography to human slave-trade and murder-for-hire, not to mention rape and murder, and is a very common outlet for various political and social extremists whom hold views from Nazi origins all the way to people who justify torture and molestation of children.
If anything should ever be completely excluded from any running in the Nobel Peace Prize, it's the internet. The evils within it do NOT allow room for any real good to come of it.
And Dhampy, you've got great points for all of those examples. They pretty much assist my argument due to all their cases being similar.
