Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Message Board  

As a foreword, I've had several problems in the past with Oblivion but after figuring out my previous problem was with the archive invalidation file and after using wrye bash to eliminate any mod conflicts I'm left with one last problem.

On the death of any creature or NPC the game crashes to desktop, and I am forced to run it without compatibility mode enabled to make use of the OBSE or OBlivion Script Extender.

If it helps at all, my hardware is beyond the recommended settings and I'm currently running Windows 7.
Oblivion is installed to my D drive under the directory D:/Oblivion/

All I can that on this type of crash is that I also get occasional crashes killing certain types of enemies. If I kill one with a lightning bolt, it crashes but if I reload and kill it again with a weapon it dies. Does the game crash when you kill it with any weapon or spell or just a particular type of weapon?

Hmmm this has never happend to me am very curius to why its happening.

Try using OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager). There is a function that this program has that detects any problems between mods and each other and such like that.

Before you try OBMM though, you should test an earlier save or new save without any mods and see if the game still crashes. If it does, something is messed up with oblivion itself and if not your mods might be causing the problem.
