When I boot up Oblivion on the PC it'll take me all the way to the menu and the loading screen for a new game but when it finishes loading the screen goes black and the program closes without any error message to help me figure out what's wrong.

Could anyone shed some light on this? I'm using Windows 7 64bit and have ruled out mod conflicts and file conflicts.

you probably have saves from some place that does not exist anymore, for example if you copy a save from a game that has shivering isles installed and in that save character is in sheogorath's realm and copy it in a game that shivering isles is not installed on it,if you go to load screen the game will crash.

Thanks I'll try that, the only thing is I've turned off everything except oblivion.esm and tried to start a new game and I'm trying to figure out if it made a save somewhere because I've just reinstalled it and have yet to play a character or get past the new game button's loading screen really.

Oblivion is a game that requires patches and onnofficial patches made by the modding community. I advise you to visit this site for patches. There are official patches, unofficial patches, and mod patches for mods.

So I got all of the patches, unofficial patches and the ones for all of the DLC, and what I managed to do is download a vanilla save-game and attempt to load it, but, like before, once it finishes loading it actually was a black screen for a few seconds but then promptly closed to desktop like before. I'm at a bit of a loss, I appreciate all your guys help though. Anything I may be doing wrong?

I would suggest not loading someone else's save and just start a new game.

I searched google for Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion windows 7 and found this post on a forum and maybe it will help you.

Try installing the game in C:\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion, instead of Program Files. Then make sure you remove your old configuration files from My Documents. These files are NOT removed when the game is uninstalled, which may explain why it wasn't working. I loaded the game with my old configuration files in My Documents, and it crashed. When I removed them, it went straight to the in-game movie, which I skipped, and went straight to the main menu without a problem. When I loaded the game from C: with the configuration files still there, it crashed. Try combining these two, and see if they work.

    Also

I'm running Oblivion on 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium, installed to the Program Files(x86) folder, and the only problem I've had is that it doesn't let me extract files directly to the Data folder (access denied; have to extract to the desktop and then move the files manually).

Still encountering the same problem, load completely and then black screen-crash to desktop without an error message.
