Wow. It happened again. I swear these guys must leave bugs in intentionally just to release "updates" later on so they can "legitimately" patch for the trainers here.

    When does the cycle end?

Well this is the story with ValVe isn't it- I know its frustrating but Steam is merely the mode of application for the updates. Fallout3 hasn't been updated in a while through Steam but all ValVe titles get zonked when its time.

I hope you don't drop support for such a new title.. seems counter productive given its popularity. I depend on CH for its quality and attention when the devs decide to tweak here and there. Thanks for sticking it out during all these tiny changes to their code.

I appreciate all the hard work with the trainers and I hope you keep it up for a while longer. The problem is this title is ONLY on steam. I bought mine retail and it still needs steam.

In the case for Left 4 Dead 2, I bought mine at a retail location and it requires that you activate it via Steam (and I double checked the box just now.) So that would not work for this particular game. What I found is that the Steam options for the game (Properties, then Updates tab) you can turn the automatic updates off and then play with the trainer that matches your current build.

However I do NOT agree with the whole giving up thing. The whole reason I signed up and payed the fee was that I wanted trainers for newly released games. In the case of L4D2, it was released 11/17/09 so I view that as a fairly new game and I really think it should be updated as required. I understand it is not easy to do, and there does have to be a point where enough is enough - but calling it quits before the game even hits a month? Doesn't sound right to me.

Updating a game just for the sake of updating it, especially when it's basically the same game as the previous L4D which has been patched about 67 times, is stupid. If you can't work out the bugs in a small, mindless shooter game with 70+ patches, then you might want to pursue a different career as game development is definitely not your calling.

If the updates continue at this pace, we won't give up, but we may wait a week or more between new trainers. It's pointless to go through all the work of updating the trainer for it to work all of 30 minutes.
