The Nationalities thread got me thinking about how much people value the places they belong to. That got me thinking about fighting to protect the country you live in or your ancestors can be traced back to (regardless of whether they would let you in their military or not).
I would fight to protect Canada. Everything my family has and everything my kids will have is because of Canada. I owe everything to my parents coming here, so if anything were to threaten that I'd fight to save it.
As for India, honestly I don't think I would. The problem is I feel a sense of betrayal. Back in 1984 there was extreme violence breaking out and Sikhs were being slaughtered in the streets, and the government just sat back and let it happen. Not only that, they ordered a military attack on the Golden Temple. That's like bombing the Vatican or Mecca, it's blasphemous. Nothing else in the world brings up such pure hatred and anger in me than thinking back to that. My dad left India that year, he had to smuggle himself to the airport in a box truck.
So would you fight for any of your countries? And be honest, don't just say yes out of fear of what others will think.

hmm see this is kind of tricky living in America. As of right now I don't see much need for me helping my country in that sense I'm better off going to school and helping the economy. But say if America were ever invaded (mw2 is a good example lol) I'd grab my gun and fight to death so keep our freedom and all the other lovely perks that come with it.
I'm medically ineligible under any circumstances, so the point is moot.

If it were in the Medieval era, my answer would be yes. These days, it can end all of a sudden, you're drinking a soda and you get a bullet between your eyes, nah not for me.
