As for Ratchet and Clank, I've not played it. I watched my step-brother play it though and I love Clank.

Still, it's pointless. Pokemon is all the rage with the kids because it's basically "Baby's first party-based RPG" with little to no plot other than "Catch all these and beat all these bad dudes and stuff"
Seriously, if I wanted to play a monster-breeding/catching game, I'd play Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne or Persona 3 or 4. Much better games with much better stories and characters, not to mention monsters. Mythological and Religion-based beings beat the tar out of the product of a generator and a mouse's unholy fornication :P

You mean Tactical RPG? I'm pretty sure in Pokemon it's just you and your weapons (the creatures are weapons the same as a +1 Mace is).

The original games (Red, Yellow, Blue) aren't too bad. They were pretty decent. Pokemon Red was my first RPG, and even now I have some love for it.
The first two seasons of the anime and the first two movies were good as well. The first movie made me cry, even know it does.
But, of course, it didn't know when to die. I hold that any kid born after 1997 cannot call themselves "the biggest Pokemon fan". They didn't see the old episodes as they aired. They don't have the limited edition legendary Mew card. They don't really love Mewtwo, or appreciate seeing your Pokemon in 3-D for the first time.
