So a Doctor tried to give a sneaky abortion to his ex Girlfriend, this is somewhat evil.
However, plenty of woman will have an abortion without the fathers consent.
Yet if they decide to keep the child, the father is responsible for maintenance etc.
How come we have such total lack of equality on this matter? Surely a father should be able to stop the mother having an abortion, and the father should have the right to sign away his fatherly rights requesting an abortion, and therefore his support obligations?
Is it really fair that a father gets so little say, or control, yet can be brought to bear for their partners decision?

I agree regarding fathers having a say in whether a woman gets an abortion, he has a right to object. He is, after all, half of the unborn child.
As for a woman having an abortion...
Abortions can cause damage, they are usually difficult things to go through. A friend of mine had one at sixteen, her boyfriend forced her. Can you imagine what it would be like if that were possible for everyone? If a father could request a woman have an abortion there would more than likely be legal battles, and it would probably result in the woman having to get one. What if she wants a child?
I guess it all comes down to: The woman has to carry the child and push it out and then breast feed it. As such, she gets a bigger say in the matter.
Really, couples shouldn't perform the reproductive act if they aren't in agreement about having kids. It'll just end in tears.

Abstinence is not really the answer. Human sexuality is a big part of who we are, it's part of caring for our psychological well-being.
People need to practice safe sex, rather than unsafe or none at all.

Actually you said it short but sufficient.
I think there is enough education for all in reach to know that what's the outcome of unsafe sex.
Even 15 years old kids give essays about sex and pregnancy, there is enough with sympathies.

The ONLY reason an abortion is justified is in situations like rape or if the baby has something wrong with it that the doctors can't fix. Otherwise, it's called a bloody condom, or the pill, or a diaphragm, or spermicide, there are so many damn ways to not get pregnant while still having sex. If you're too stupid to know that you shouldn't be having sex.

I make allowance for honest mistakes.
But there are people--a lot of people--who don't use any protection because they can simply have the resulting pregnancies vacuumed out. And if they're poor, they can have it done for free.
