There's a patch out that seems to update the version of the expansion from 2.0.0 something to 2.1.6 something.
EDIT: Might have been updated again then based on the post below.

Currently my launcher says it is version 2.2.8.002001.

1.7.9 was never world adventures but the base game patch.
Currently with the latest patch my version says 2.2.8.002002
so that would be version 2.2.8 not 1.7.9

you may want to look at the patch notes, the launcher is version 2.2.8 but the game is version 1.7.9, though i must admit EA does need to display both the launcher and the game version while also stating which version each number refers to.
