Yeah I really don't care about AA all that much so take this with a grain of salt if you're one of those "AA freaks" who'd rather play a game on all low settings in order to have AA than play on High w/o it.
Given the visual and rendering style of this game, the lack of AA is a LOT less noticable, and honestly I don't think the performance hit for enabling it would really give you a large enough difference in the look of the game to make it worth it. But that's just my 2-cents-worth.

Yeah everything over 4x AA is madness, poor hardware.
BLASPHEMY! BURN THE HERETIC!!!
If I am to pay for high end hardware, then I'm darn sure going to work it like a rented mule on every game in my library. Higher AA levels -can- make a difference, but not always though, it really depends a lot on the graphics themselves.
Frankly I'm surprised that you have to go to so much effort to enable V-sync in the game when (for me at least) it runs better now and without all the tearing when I look around.
