Using winRAR you can mod various aspects of the game by opening up the resource.pak with it. Don't bother changing the .pak into a .zip, as its confusing and complicated to change it back again once all the modification is done. instead just Open the resource.pak from the resource folder in your Majesty 2 directory and browse to find the winrar.exe and open it.

One of the easiest modifications you can do if you're like me and need jsut that extra bit of gold is to go through the gamedata folder in the resource.pak file and find the magic files. Open spells.xml with notepad or another text editor and scroll down to find 'magic_extortion'.

From there is a simple matter of changing the cost_money from 0 to a negative (-0000) number and then changing the f_percent from 30 to anything lower.

Afterward it should look something like this:

And there you go. Just save and when winRAR asks if you'd like to update the files, click yes and bingo. Start a new game/mission and use the magic spell Extortion to get all the money you need.

You can also change other spells to suite your needs this way, either by upping the attack power of attacks or lowering the costs of the smells and ect...

i tried it..and its works..but..why its always make the game to crash..

after few attempt, maybe the safe way is to reduce the amount of gold you can get via the extortion spell..

I did, but the main thing is you ha ve to make sure that the original resource.pak file and the modded version is not in the same place. Rename the original like something resource - original.pak and then save it somewhere else so that you only have the modded resource.pak file left in teh folder.

And as for how much money, I put up to 20,000 gold on mine. xD Worked like a charm, though I'd also edited the other spells, to lower their costs and recharge times and the like. The ThunderStorm spell rocks with 2500 power. Hahaha. Destroys most building and enemies in one hit, though you can't do jack to bosses due to their inpregnibilities.

heyo dude...its WORKS!!!
just copy the original magic.xml to another folder..and its works flawlessly without error message or crash..just leave the folder pak clean without any original magic.xml or edited one, coz i use the notepad to edit that magic.xml so i need to extract it first..

yeah..in magic.xml, they can also edit the cost and power of other spell.. but i better leave them alone, as i don't want to spoil another fun factor in this game..

Mod doesn't work. The game just becomes corrupt and forces you to re-install.

How can i open the.xml file in any word proccessor? I can open it with winrar but omly in view mode which i cant edit. And I cannot use 'open with' too.
