i have to have a bunch of lvl 3 houses but my citizen houses wont advance. I click on the houses and they are all completely satisfied with their needs and are very happy. Yet they still wont advance, and they are fully populated also have 15/15 people in them. How do i get them to advance?

Also, what do you build to get the coal out of a coal mine/deposit?

i am not sure about your first question i mean...
hey wait a minute do you have all of the buildings of the citizens available because some of the need are available when all of the building are available to you.
    -------
and the answer to your first question is:
you can only build coal mines when you have nobleman in your city.

    Hope i helped

You need citizen rights, which is granted on how well you're doing economically, then their is citizen rights granted by taking in homeless people and building them an "Alum's House". You always need more lower class people to make the upper class move up in class. I noticed that you need 50 peasants for every 15 peasants that become citizens and 50 citizens for every 15 citizen to become merchants, and etc. The game is made so that the lower class will always outnumber the higher class which is suppose to be realistic I guess.

I think that you're facing the same problem as I am right now... I made the marketplaces too space-efficient and the houses refuse to advance. What you can do is to go to a marketplace and click on the button on top of the description to deny ascension rights. Then, as and when you have enough resources to advance a house, there will be a green arrow pointing upwards on the qualifying houses.

At this point you can advance them in the marketplace or select the particular house you want to advance

slowpoke2: My main island has more noblemen than any other types of population, so I think that's not the case...
