Red Faction: Guerrilla Message Board  

This concern will probably never be answered given the age of the game and the workload of the site, but the newest trainer for Red Faction Guerrilla doesn't seem start when you double-click it. Nor does it have the usual icon graphic for CH trainers.

And when you open the context menu and choose to run as admin it says "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

Now, I'm not the most savvy person but I do use an admin account and I've had no problem whatsoever with any other trainers.

Windows 7 64 bit.

Figured I'd play through the game again, and cheat my ass off, but I'll have to find something else for now.

disable/uninstall all AV, firewall and other security software.

I have indeed gone through the troubleshooting guide and no dice.

All other trainers work fine.

I've deleted the files and redownloaded several times and that doesn't help either.

For the lack of any other way of describing it...it's like it's incomplete.

That's because some security software on your PC is blocking the file from saving completely. There is nothing wrong with the file on the server.

If everything is disabled and it still won't download correctly, what do you recommend?

Edit: I've answered my own question, I'll try it on a different computer. Duh.

Some security software cannot simply be disabled. They continue to block things. You have to uninstall them.

Ok, now this is weird.

I get the same problem on my new laptop, which has no security stuff whatsoever.

But my really really really old laptop can download it and run it no problem.

Then I transfer the file to my desktop and boom, can't run it.

But I can run every other trainer I've ever downloaded.

I'm gonna take off Zonealarm, I guess. I already took off my antivirus.

Whelp, I'm lost.

I gave up, put everything back and it works now.

Next time I'm just gonna restart my computer over and over until it works.
