Pardon me if I'm wrong, but I thought the Vikings discovered America? And Columbus discovered the Carribbean.
I'm also told that opinion is much divided on the subject. (waits for Dhampy)
There is very strong evidence--Viking sagas combined with archaeological evidence--that the Vikings settled Newfoundland.
Columbus landed on Hispaniola.
But more interesting is the fact that Greek and Roman coins have been found in Mesoamerican ruins. It's possible that the Vikings carried them from Europe and they made their way to the Mayans. But, the Phoenicians are believed by some to have traveled to North America in antiquity. Combine this with the Aztek depiction of Quetzalcoatl as a white man with a beard and the missing years of Jesus' life...
