sorry to hear it tmh.
ugh so i'm in a bit of a bind for the next week or so, the university did a ranomized port search all throughout campus and checkng bandwith levels seeing who was pirating and what not, ya just happened to be when i was downloadng the one movie i didn't tunnel for. So now i got my internet shut off for a week and today i have a meeting with the resident director about why i did it and what were going to do about it.
Lol why i did it? i wanted to see the movie without paying why the hell else would i do it.
And now i'm banking on him not finding anything else if they search the history of that port cause they might find some rather incriminating things haha. well either way i'll keep you guys updated
I had an experience like this last semester.
My roommate (not me) uploaded some song to a file sharing service, forgot to turn it off overnight, and subsequently got both mine and his internet shut off (since we shared the same ethernet hub) and both of us (since he didn't step forward and admit he did it) got a Judicial Referral, a fine and were required to take some stupid all-day class on what you can and cannot download. Because it was at the end of the semester, our punishments were going to be doled out at the beginning of this semester. I contacted my roommate over the summer and asked him what he was going to do about the whole thing and whether or not he was going to step up and admit what he did, thus getting me off the hook. He basically just said that it would be a "waste of time" admitting what he did, which needless to say made me very happy about the whole situation.
Sooooo this semester rolls around and I (being one to fight stuff to the bitter end) decided to appeal my case even though the deadline had already passed. (who the hell has deadlines during summer when everyone is away from campus?) They decided to hear my case though. I told them my side of the story, rebutted every possible claim they came up with and brought along a bevy of "evidence" most of which was misdirection type of stuff. (when they asked me if I had a separate computer I could have uploaded the file from I showed them my receipt for my computer, which for some reason made sense to them)
tl;dr- I got off scot free despite a jerk roommate
