One thing I don't get, about the new movie Avatar, why is the trailer released some 3 months before the movie premiere? I mean I don't know how movie trailers so far have been released, but as far as I can remember it was never in such a long period of time.

Because it's James Cameron's magnum opus. It's the most expensive and labor-intensive movie ever. And it's totally ass.
