Theatre of War 2: Africa 1943 Message Board  

Just got this game yesterday, not bad. Have to figure everything out. Looks great! More real, replay value for sure. Changing things in the game seems limited for now, but a least possible, definitely a keeper.

So far this is want I can change, light tanks into heavy tanks, trucks into tanks, change arty guns. Give more deployment spots, you can put your whole army in the game. More points to spend. Change your troops into vets(this one takes time, you have to do it for each soldier). Change the ai's support into mine, arty, bombers, whatever. Change the friendly ai into my troops. So far with these changes I can win on regular and hard without reinforcements.

Nope sorry. If their using the same engine it should work.

thanks another question i looked on 1c site and did your post for the 2 things the money i take it and spots now was wondering if you could tell me in the same folder can you change light tanks to tigers by just erasing the panzer name to tiger name and so on or is there another way i watched your video but wanted to change this in the game folder for each mission can this be done plz let me know thanks oh and can you show how to change soldiers to vets thanks

First off, making changes to the original game file can cause unwanted effects, like events not being triggered, game freezing, and game crashes. I'm not sure what you mean about changing tanks. The only way I know to change anything is to change it's name tags. For example, to change a USA tank

Name>m4a1_(sherman)_afrikaUnitID1259/UnitID
FullNametanks/usa/m4a1_(sherman)_afrika/FullName

To a tiger tank,

Name>pz_vih_afrikaUnitID>7/UnitID
FullName>tanks/ger/pz_vih_afrika/FullName

You just copy this "pz_vih_afrika" and paste it over the USA tanks. You have to change the country to. Of course in order for your crew to use the tiger they have to have experience, so you have to make them vets.

Don't forget your changing a main game file if you mess up and you forget want you changed your sc@#*ed, so backup the mission file before you change anything.

hello thanks for your time your great for helping much appreciated if you dont mind me asking was wondering if you had any luck of chaning for example leader,scout,gunlayer,driver from 1 to lets say 2 or 3 just wanted to see if there was a way to increase this ive tried and the soldiers for tanks disapear just wanted to see if i can increase accuracy for example plz let me know thanks just to let you know i went out and got this game to try it first before i try and change the original theatre of war this way i can go step by step to learn the changes just curious have you tried to put elite for your soldiers instead of vet just curious 1 more thing plz how do you change the artillery and bombers as you mentioned before plz give example was wondering if you played officers it looks like the same kinda setup in change like duration just add extra numbers if you can let me know what you did thanks and again thanks for the time

Hey ericgamer38, yea I've tried to change certain skills but the game won't let me. I started by changing just the "novice" or "regular" into "veteran" or "elite" but it didn't seem to work so I added experience too. Then when I started helping you I just changed everybody into vets and it worked. I mainly wanted to get my "Tigers" working so I settled for that.

Changing the support is tricky! I got it to work by trial and error, a lot of error! I still don't know what some of the #s I change represent. Half the time it won't work. Your better off giving yourself a bunch of tigers. I'll go over it again and post you later about that, because it involves messing with two files.

Yea, I've played "Officers". There's stuff right here on CheatHappens that can tell you what to do. It's simple. The game is fun.
