It's for the best. District 9 is a slight to all creative thought. It is a messy conglomeration of every scifi movie of the last 30 years with a shallow moral lesson thrown in that would have been relevant in the 1960s.

Derivation requires no originality. Dhampy likes originality. Great story can make up for it; but District 9 had no real story, only setting and characters.
In artistic terms, it's the work of a high school student dabbling in scifi. He thinks about all the movies he's seen and books he's read and rips everything in his story from them. Nothing is his own.
